Is everyone keeping their hatch-lings or are you selling the chicks? I'm not with the irs by the way.

I'm keeping mine. And depending on how many make it, im getting more. These are my first chickens and i want a selection of different breeds for eggs and meat. I was thinking of getting a big meat cockrel to breed with the egg hens so we can get some duel purpose birds suitable for the table.

Candled finally. Went from 45 chicken eggs to 30. And 8 turkeys down to 4! Some eggs were a little old so I expected it. But these 34 are going strong on Day 11!!

well, of 12 shipped ccl, 8 were fertile, 6 hatched. normally I'd be ecstatic. but I got 5 cockerels and 1 pullet!

also got 2 bantam cochins (1 silver laced, 1 red/buff) and have a few Dorkings and others due on Thursday. I still have 2 ccl eggs that haven't pipped yet (this is the batch that lost power for a while, so they may be delayed a bit)

they both make it out and are both pullets!

That is better than my current hatch of shipped SQ White Face Black Spanish (not from sally)... only 4/12 did anything, 2 made it to lock down 1 hatched the other one had a weird Aircell on the side, chick was upside down I helped enough to get it's head wings out see if it gets itself all the way out or doesn't make it..

I'm on day 21, due day for my eggs. I know that's why I had the dream. Some eggs are not sitting in the incubator where I put them, but there has been no further movement, no pips, no cheeps. I hope they hatch! I've got 6 "mutts" in there.

I'v got a question - if opening your incubator after lock down can have such disastrous effects on your eggs, then why are there all these videos on you tube with people opening theirs to show their chicks in the middle of hatching? They don't seem to care and are leaving the lid off for a considerable amount of time while they chat away to the camera.

I ordered a new brooder & it was delivered today. I don't do "measurements" well, so I was like oh idk about 4' square should do. HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! Its HUGE!!!!!! Lmao! Better get to hatching more babies!

That probably depends on lot of things, my humidity in my home is usually over 50% i incubate in my basement which is still high, I have a hatcher and do staggered hatches all the time...put new eggs in take chicks out etc it is opened never for long periods and has never effected anything.....humidity goes up also during hatching so opening to get a few chicks that are dry etc is usually ok...

So you need to incubate at least another dozen hoping for 5 pullets and one cockerel....
