Incubators Anonymous

One of the greatest dangers is that the incubator itself, can multiply... first you have one and it is so nice and sweet, but you look again and you have 2 or 3 or more. Some may call themselves "hatchers", but don't be fooled by that!

You're not doing a good job of enabling with this. That's okay. I'll edit your post for you to make it more hatch-a-holic friendly.

Better?

Of course not, but wouldn't it be amazing to hatch one... or two...

Now that's the kind of enabling I'm talkin' about!!!

This is probably my favorite forum on here! My daughter saw some pictures of what I call foo foo chickens lol which are any fluffy or long feathered fancy ones. But now she wants silkies and frizzles BAD. she does 4h but I told her we need to build them a special coop if we are going to do that so she had to ask dad. He said it was fine! He's an enabler too! We have 3 tractor coops and now I have to build 2 more (a bigger one for turkey's and now her designer chickens)! It's never ending! Lol
So come spring I'll be ordering silkie frizzle and turkey eggs lol

I'm teaching my DH to be an enabler. He finally said (this April) "You're going to fret anyway, it may as well be about something that you enjoy." (about me hatching eggs).

This month, he helped me build a coop for the chicks that he ordered me all on his own.
Then, when I lost half a dozen, he bought me a replacement 2 dozen!!!

My DH always says, " everyone needs a hobby!" And we r in process of coop/run #6!!! And I just started chicken keeping Spring 2013! :/
BTW- He also just ordered me the "Crazy Chicken Lady" Tshirt AND. A hoodie, so I can be crazy year a round! Lmbo

That's so sweet. My DH is a typical computer geek who feels nature is messy & should remain outside. Opposites attract & he has become a very patient & understanding man over the years. He's put up with all the strange science projects, reptiles, and an assorted menagerie of classroom pets (ie- unwanted students' pets that get "donated" to my science lab.) When I decided to keep a few backyard chickens, he thought it was a little crazy but went along. Now that he's getting amazing eggs, I catch him sneaking kitchen scraps out to the coop.

I built a cooler incubator so my daughter can take up my incubation addiction. She won best in show for her animal science project. We sold most of her adorable results. Now hooked, she wants to hatch some bantams next spring.

I had a duckie in my incubator that wasn't ready to come out, when I went to check on it, I had a surprise! One of the eggs left in my incubator hatched! I had another little chick! I have 2 more that are close to hatching.

That is Awesome! My DH is helping me build a "Turkey Complex" this winter so I figure that' will mean we need more turkeys!

I think I might need one of those hoodies!
