You know, this is the craziest thing... Chicken Addiction...who would have thought....we have been blessed with 46 acres of beautiful farm land in South GA. My husband never allowed us to have animals. So, I would 'sneak' the occassional cat or dog up to the house. Well, he's warmed up to having two outside cats, Lucie & Luke who are wonderful assets at keeping the rats & mice away. He was upset when we had to put our 9 yr old pit-mix down during Thanksgiving break. He hasn't been thrilled about having an inside cat that can't & will not go out side nor an inside dog (both of which are my babies). But he is dealing with it.

My son had to have an unexpected kidney surgery 4 weeks ago. Well, right before that he asked if he could have some chickens to show for 4-H. You know 5 or 6. Daddy says "Yes, sure that's fine." Little did he know those few words (after 20 years of 'No" to mom) were opening up a whole new phase of freedom for an animal lover that had been held back. lol. He had surgery, got home and was so bored that we start surfing ebay (which was a big no-no). We had ordered and ordered eggs til when they started coming in I was thinking 'wow, all the extras add up.' I was running back and forth to the Tractor Supply getting incubators and turners. lol. Bet they thought I lost a few marbles. I was wondering about the missing marbles too. Two weeks after my son came home, I had 18 chicks delivered. My husband had to immediately start building a coop and run (which he was not happy about because we didn't give him time to think about saying "ok"). I borrowed a large brooder from a family friend and farmer and off we went. Chicken addiction all the way!!!!

We now have 2 incubators full with one other in lock down. I've just now placed an order for silkie chicks that will be here by the end of the week. My husband knew better than to let go of the 'No chain'. The chicken one was the worst one to say ok too. lol.

only 1 other thing on my list now, besides narragansett turkeys...

ocellated turkey. 8) i'm in love but i think it's going to take winning lotto numbers to add this one.

Wow..... never have seen that one before! Pretty colors.
all of the north american turkeys are 1 variety with several subspecies. this is the only other species of turkey, found only on the yuccatan peninsula... wonder if i took a vacation down there, if i could sneak some eggs home. 8)
