So glad I am not the only one planning my next hatch!

You are soooo not the only one....my peeps are 2 days old, and already I am dying to have another go! (we'll see how Broody Mum feels about that plan! She has never hatched before, and I don't know if she will finally be able to stop going broody every 4-6 weeks now she has chicks, or if this is just the beginning)

ok... here's a question I'm pretty sure I know the answer to...

How many is TOO MANY? 8) in addition to the 34 eggs I currently have, I'm waiting on 6+ marans eggs, and counting today's 3, I have 26 bantam eggs sitting on my desk.
so by my (non chicken) math, that's somewhere just under 70 eggs...
if you estimate that only 50% shipped eggs hatch, that's still still 46 eggs that would likely be viable!! and i just talked to someone who got dorking eggs from the same guy, she had 90% hatch!
my turner will hold 42 eggs. so... what happens if i have too many fertile eggs after the 5-7 day candling, to fit in the 42 slots? and where will i put all those fluffbutts when they hatch???

ok someone stop me before i pull all my (very short) hair out!

oh! and post a link for that 'bator you're "borrowing" !! i can see now my tax refund is already spent! unless someone knows someone who's selling a used one that nobody here... uh... was going to say needs. no, wants? no... has no room for?? OH! yeah i know... if you've recently upgraded and don't have room for any smaller ones??? hm. that probably won't work either. small ones are easier to fit anywhere. *sigh*

All you really need for a incubator is a heat source, a thermostat, a fan and a cabinet. I was reading about making an incubator out of a frying pan or a crockpot. I already bought a dinky little fan that just plugs in. I am always building something out of wood. So one of these days I will throw something together and then I will have to test it
more hatching , what a pity:rolleyes:

Boy, I sure love this place..... My DH still doesn't know I won and auction last week and have a dozen Showgirls coming tomorrow

I'll drink to that! My hubs would freak if he knew my Machiavellian plan to set more eggs the next time my hen goes broody....

especially since the current batch looks like this:
