i'm sure it's not what i'm imagining. I've been watching too much sci fi lately.
When banans are ready to flower they throw off a new banana at the bottom of the stump sometimes more then one this is how edible bananas survive as they do not grow from seen ,
How ever flowering unedible man made do.

Now a Culter is a TC culture comes from the banana stem AKA Rhisome they take small tissues millions of them and make new banana trees that to be honest with you do not live well and are harder to grow.

Im on bananas.org and its a wonderful place to learn about tropicals i have oranges lemons grapefruit pawpaws and cherimoya growing here out side and in my green house i have the pitaya or Dragon fruit Cactus .

its fun i also sell some of my plants or trade but been looking for bananas i lost mine when i put them in the attic for winter and house caught on fire

USDA and ICE are not very reasonable when they find living plants in the golf bag

Has anyone found a good inexpensive replacement material for the sponge material that goes in the sportsman water tray. I needed some new but they seemed quite expensive. I have a hatch going on and am using regular dish sponges and paper towels but it isn't anywhere near as good. Humidity is about 59%..

Hatch still seems to be moving along but its work keeping the humidity up..
