Those pigs look like they are ready for a show! You may be disappointed about not getting a Duroc but your pigs are no slouches. They are great bacon pigs. How big do those pigs grow? I went to see a friend of mine here in TN a few years ago and was dumbfounded when I saw her pair of pigs that were 9 years old. They were Tamworths which was part of the Duroc foundation. They were nearly 5 feet at the shoulders and at least 9 feet long!

The pigs are 8 weeks in that photo. They had just got their tags as well as Tetanus and Rhinoshield vaccinations

The farrowing pens I built will are 8 feet long. I expect these to be 7-7"6. They take 200KG of feed and 4.5 months to get to 90KG (200lbs). The growth of a modern pig is sensational.

My wife just came across a Pietrans cross boar. They are massive. I am getting a 5 month old so he is a few months older than the girls. I want them all pregnant within a week of each other if I can.

well, I had to start up another incubator again. LOL I'd had just 2 running (incubator and hatcher) but a friend just dropped off 45 SFH eggs for me to incubate, I've got 8 of hers in the hatcher due Thursday, and just set 9 mottled bantam cochin eggs (unknown if they're mutt or pure) Sunday. I've got 6 or 7 in the pen outside now (sept / oct hatches), 6 that hatched November 9, 6 hatched November 29 and one on December 2 (3 days late but seems to be doing ok surprisingly).

so looks like if my own girls start picking up, i'll have all the incubators hopping again.

i'm sure it's not what i'm imagining. I've been watching too much sci fi lately.
