I've never had an egg lose too much moisture unless it was cracked, and then the problems weren't so much moisture loss...

if you keep your humidity up the last 3 days, they should be fine.

all 4 hatched Woot!!!!!!   now i don't know what i was thinking but it never ocurred to me i wouldn't be
able to tell the olive eggers from the BCM chicks LOL!!! of course they all came out black from a BCM
roo even tho two of the moms are white..  i am going to have to inspect the leg feathers and combs LOL!!!

it can be very hard to tell chicks apart. I use the baskets to help and have resorted to toe punching since other tags can fall off.

the two white Moms are the two SBELS I hatched last year from your eggs... they lay lots of large pale blue eggs (pretty much one per day). Someone came over last weekend and said that they were such big eggs for Ameraucanas so i had fun enlightening them on what they were really looking at :)...

yep the leg bands do come off, but i have more issues with the pink and purple ones changing color :)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I keep my incubator on my formal dining room table because there are 2 doors to the room, it is the most stable temp and no one goes in there. Though young, both my kids KNOW not to go in the dining room and not to go near my eggs.

I have 36 eggs in my incubator between 14 and 18 days. This is by far my most expensive hatch with $156 in mail order eggs. I even went and bought a second incubator as a hatching incubator. Some time between noon and when I went in after dinner to move my day 18 eggs into the new incubator for lockdown, my daughter went in the dining room and turned my incubator knob ALL the way up!!! It was reading 115!!! I immediately pulled the eggs out and they felt hot. I gently started opening them one by one looking for one that would bleed or have a heart beat so I could keep the rest in and hope for just one to hatch. ALL of them were dead. The insides were so hot.

I am so overwhelmed with the senseless loss of life. And they were such pretty chicks, I've been anticipating their hatch. I saved up for eggs for the chickens I really wanted. And it's not like I even have another $150 to spend on eggs to start all over.

My husband deploys to Afghanistan on Sunday so I planned these eggs hatches out around that time so me and my kids would have something to look forward to and something to take our mind off it. Everyone in my house thinks I am over reacting over chickens, but all I could do was sit at my kitchen table and sob for 30 minutes, I'm just so upset over this.
