Incubators Anonymous

Thanks! I know if it gets past 104, there most likely cooked, but its my first hatch, and I was given eggs to put in with my 5. So I'm just super worried, I would feel bad if I did something wrong with those other 9 eggs. Now the extra 9 aren't going back to who I got them from, and most likely won't stay here. I was given them so I had a fuller incubator to help with temp, and also because I have a mystery rooster, and even though my eggs look 100% fertile, and a bunch of people on here said they were, I didn't want my 5 year old sad if none hatched. And she's already sat and watched it for over an hour willing them to come out now. Its going to be a long 19-20 days for her.

Thanks everyone.

yep- just relax and let them do their thing. At hatching time you will do fine just remember NOT to help.

did you have ah homemade incubator?

No I have a Little Giant Still Air. Its the only one at the feed store in the middle of Winter. Its like 10 outside, so I guess I will have chicks in the house forever, cause I'm not sure if I could even find anyone who would even want some. I figured once it its the middle of Feb. They will be around a month old, most people out here start getting chick the end of Feb. beginning of March. So here is hoping I can find them all home. I'm at 18 outside right now, and I will probably only keep one or two of them. Maybe, you know how chicken math goes. hahaha.

It's sometimes easier to hatch than sell.

looks great. i would noy be concerned with air circulation - if you can breathe, so can the chicks

Love the quail pics!

I still have to figure out some type of set up for getting mine outside (not that I can move anyone outside in this "polar vortex"!)

For the first time since I got it 8 months ago, my incubator is off my dining room table & packed up in its box. We'll see how long I can keep it there...
