Incubators Anonymous

Hi all! I have a question, if someone has a chance to answer. I am currently waiting on a box of shipped eggs that should have been here Saturday ( no fault of he sellers, she has been a delight!) But for whatever reason, the post office dropped the ball, and now i wont get my eggs until tomorrow. That makes it 6 days in a box! :( i hav successfully hatched local chicks many times last year, and some luck this year. I have only done shipped eggs one other time and didnt have he best luck, though some never made it in my incibator due to cracks. Do these eggs stand a chance? Please any tips for me to give them the best chance?

You should still let them settle for a minimum of 12 hours before putting them in the incubator and the longest I have had egg's in the post office was 8 days and 7 out of 8 hatched and 6 are still in the yard the big thing is how they were handled in the post office and if they were left in the heat or bounced around at all .....

personally I would set them as soon as you get them home but not turn the incubator for at least a day, (I do 2-3 days) to allow the air cells to stabilize. if the eggs got heated at any point of their travel, they may already have started development so waiting an extra day might not be for the best.
