I'v got a question - if opening your incubator after lock down can have such disastrous effects on your eggs, then why are there all these videos on you tube with people opening theirs to show their chicks in the middle of hatching? They don't seem to care and are leaving the lid off for a considerable amount of time while they chat away to the camera.

Yep i've seen in and they are risking their hatch. It is amazing how quick it can happen,

I video taped mine hatching through the clear part of the lid. Very close up and the lid was perfectly clear. Is it possible they did that? But that was the first couple of hatches, but by the end the window was condensated and I couldn't see anything.

At this moment I am awaiting 12 Silkie eggs, 8 buff Sebrights, and 7 Ginger Reds hatching eggs. They should be here by Monday. I will know tomorrow if I will have another 12 Silkie eggs or not.

No, i'v seen sevral videos where they've taken the lid right off and kept it off for sevral minuets while taking close ups of the chicks hatching. Look at this one, for example, he's even touching the eggs!

No signs of life? I'm on day 21 and now i'm hearing chirping and pecking coming from inside my eggs. No external pips yet though.....

Nothing. A couple days ago some moved their positions in the incubator, but nothing since. I've had a lot of problems with my LG still air. I've gathered a lot of info and will be trying again once I've got some kinks worked out.

Nothing. A couple days ago some moved their positions in the incubator, but nothing since. I've had a lot of problems with my LG still air. I've gathered a lot of info and will be trying again once I've got some kinks worked out.

I added a fan to a LG still air with the electronic thermostat.
Even with pill bottles filled with water to help stabilize it, the temps were all over the place.
Have an electronic one to replace it with and will be testing it starting today.
If it works, I recommend you do the same, controller is less than $20.
Plug in 12v wall wart and computer fan I had laying around, but also recommend you do that too,
should be able to buy new for less than $20 also....

Have you tried the water test to see if they are still alive? Mine were wobbling at first then i didn't see anything happening for a couple of days but now 2 of them are chirping and pecking and wobbling in their eggs trying to get out. Not sure about the others though...

I just finished looking up the how to on this! Lol. I'll probably do it this afternoon and will report back with results.
