I to said I wasnt doing bantams and now I have 2 dozen different types coming in to hatch. How can I just leave my new 3tray Dickey Incubator empty? It only has 3 doz in there now and it can hold up to 100 eggs. I have to have more, so I am now bidding on eggs in the auctions. I cant seem to control myself. Thanks to all of you who help me in my condition. I am now eggdictied

Did you see the BYC auction page this morning? ONE PAGE . I've never seen the BYC egg auction site with just one page. Well ~sigh~ I suppose it's a good thing

From what I have been told it's getting towards the end of the egg selling season and people are now working on replenishing their flock so they have new birds to better their flock for next year. It's a good thing though...keeping me good so my husband doesn't have to sigh and roll his eyes because I have yet again set more eggs to hatch (oh wait I forgot I still have 10 in the incubator lol)

Okay, so I bought my incubator and turner last night, I am now obsessively checking the website to track it. No tracking information yet.

I wish they would do better at this tracking thing, surely by now it should say, "Employee has fetched the items and are staring at your order form." OR SOMETHING!

I separated out my roosters from the hens getting ready for winter. I know quite a few people who do the same this time of year. A friend of mine just put her BLRW rooster back in with her girls so I could get some eggs from her

I am supposed to be done for the year . . that is what I keep telling myself

I was supposed to be done two hatchings ago but there are always more pretty little eggs and now my rooster is breeding and my girls are laying and even though they are Gold Comets I keep thinking "I wonder what I will get if I breed them together and hatch the eggs?" I know they don't breed true but I am still thinking that it might be fun to see what they would look like when they hatched. The only thing stopping me is that I can't really use them in my program since I am trying to breed Dual Purpose meat birds rather than just egg layers. Part of me keeps thinking though that since Comets come from a cross between Delawares and Rhode Island Red or Hampshires that there is potential there for meat birds....I might just have to try it.
