I guess tomorrow I will shut down the last of my 3 bators. Time to clean it up & put it away for awhile. It's going to be really hard to put it away but that's the only way to stop the temptation. I thought about trying to hatch some guineas next. My son told me I really needed to put the bator away before I got us both in trouble with daddy. Lol. Well, I thought that was a good idea because we have a tremendous tick problem here and my Chihuahua is highly allergic to them. When she is bitten by one when it's in between times for her flea & tick med, she will end up with tick paralysis. Our vet has her on some pretty strong stuff. I just have to stay on top of keeping it on her a couple of days before the next dose is due. I've always heard that guineas would help with ticks. I may hatch some next spring/early summer or get a couple from a friend that raises them down the road from us.

If you want guinea you better get on it! They will stop laying here very soon. They are seasonal layers and only lay in the spring and summer

put the other 2 up and get some guinea. They are easy to hatch even from shipped eggs.

I better wait til next spring or summer. My hubby still has to warm up to the whole chicken thing. He doesn't get it yet. He's trying bless his heart and is extremely patient with me and my son because he knows this is something we love.

The chickens do pretty good with ticks too. Havent found a one on my animals this year. I have free range banties. I have head it is better to hatch guineas as they are flyer and will tend to return home if they are moved.

I'm looking for Guineas...eggs, keets, juveniles, adults...whatever. They aren't for me, a customer wants a do2en keets & whatever others I can find in "odd" colors. She has french, french pied, pearl, & lavender. I'm looking for Purple, white, chocolate & any other color I missed.

granted they are much smaller hatches, but.... I don't NEED anymore. But on the bright side, 1/2 are roos and they will be leaving so that gets it down a lot. I am only going to be hatching some Lavs and SLW and maybe BLRW (I am picking some up from Foley Monday

) I know I have MORE than enough Wheatens....they are coming out my ears. I only needed a few Blacks so I am good there. I just need to STOP!

Push it in the closet & lock the door...LOL

I'm going to the school next week to see if my kids' teachers would each like to do some hatching in the classroom. Maybe a couple of the other teachers would like to join them. Thinking if I give 3-4 of my bators to the school to use, it will keep me from FILLING them constantly. I can even give the classes eggs to incubate & they can return any chicks the kids don't take home with them...LOL
