VERY GOOD POINT.

WHOA! purchase in the Us. Service available in the US. Biggest drawback to the Suro is the Funky instructions but a lot of us have figured them out and can help!

OMG...everytime I think I have it figured out...I learn something new. Somehow...somewhere I missed not leaving the quail chicks in the incubator for 24 hours like chicken chicks. So they need to come out as soon as they dry and into the brooder? I know to make sure that the waterer is drown proof, but on the average...how long before they get moved?

Thanks for the info on the Suro. Sounds awesome! but will not have my mother n law bring one from New Zealand since the electric current differences were pointed out! The ones I have found on US sites have been quite pricey! Several hundred more than the Brinsea 20 Advance Ex.

Madcap...I have been an NNP for 17 years, when I started we were far and few. Boy, have things changed!

OK This is the Brinsea that most closely compares to the R-Com King Suro=20 http://www.poultrysupplies.com/index_files/page0006.htm

Here is the cost of the external Auto Humidity control unit for the Brinsea: H22 Brinsea Digital Humidity Management Module (right picture) maintains the desired incubator humidity. Sensor unit relays signal to control module so the preset humidity level can be maintained by water being added to the incubator. $22.00 shipping & handling. These products are drop-shipped from Brinsea in Florida. Allow 2 weeks for delivery. These products can be used with the Octagon 20 and Octagon 40 Incubators. $369.00

OH, and the temp-control monitor w/alarm is ALSO incorporated in the K-Suro: T20 Brinsea Temperature Alarm Module with Sensor (left picture) has an internal battery backup. High and low limits are adjustable & can be set to go off when the temperature incubator varies 1.0° F. $20.00 shipping & handling.$299.0

Here is the K-Suro from the same vendor: 920-125 R-Com King Suro-20 above left picture (wt. 9 lbs.) $380.00

These are both plastic, easily cleaned and disinfected [I use Oxine].

Hovabator - the best of the Styrofoam options:

1588 Genesis Hova-Bator
Price $129.90

The Genesis Hova-Bator is pre-set for bird eggs
AUTOMATIC TURNER SOLD SEPARATELY Save yourself the trouble by setting your eggs with an automatic turner. This turner can be used in any current model Hova-Bator incubator. Price $50.75

Thanks Madcap! I am so excited. I really just wanna rush out and do it all...but I know success comes with patience and planning and I will have it all staged and ready to go when I begin my search for EGGS!

When I got my chicks, I had designed my whole set up, but didn't have my coop built. I had ordered my run, which is a 7 x 12 chain link dog run. I wired a 3foot high chicken wire base along the bottom. I live in a neighbor on the edge of town, so predators are cats, we have seen 1 raccoon, some possoms and hawks. I put shade cloth over the entire top and half of it is covered with corrugaged plastic for a dry area. Pine straw bottom, but gonna put a layer of sand down. This connects to a 4x4 coop with 2 nesting boxes. But by the time the chicks were ready to come out of the brooder, I was really scrambing. I'm a big DIYer. So lesson learned...have it all set up before I get the eggs!!!!!!!!

THE HUMIDITY PUMP IS OVERKILL ON THE BRINSEA UNITS AND NOT NECESSARY, BELIEVE ME I HAVE A FLEET OF THEM IN BOTH SIZES--- DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

You pay dearly for all extra "bells and whistles" when it come to incubators.

Yes, humidity pumps are overkill, personally I would buy me 2nd or 3rd ECO for the price of this toy.

Generally you can not go wrong filling one well for incubating (Brinsea ECO 20) and both wells for hatching (works for easy species like chickens, guineas).

However as JMR points out it is better to hatch gamebirds in seperate hatcher since Brinsea fan blows directly on eggs drying them up.

For me Brower Top Hatch is a perfect hatcher, easy precise humidity control, no direct air blast on hatching eggs, huge transparent dome for visibility, dishwasher easy cleaning.
