IncuCube Bator

clever idea and sounds like it will work out sending you good hatching vibes...I decided to not use mine while I was gone my husband is turning my eggs for me probably because I have some of his turkey eggs in with mine.....I never had problems with mine but if i was gone fixing it would be too much for my honey to deal with...

Oh, I think I'm in trouble....Today is lockdown and when I took my turner out my temp went down to 91 and now it won't go any higher, the turner motor helped keep it warm enough with the heating pad set on med, . Now I have the pad turned up to high but the temp won't go any higher, I have 2 bath towels wraped around the whole thing too. I have heard from Randy at incubator warehouse, and I will probably need a new top, but I am beginning to feel this hatch is doomed and they were due this Sat.

I don't know what else I can do at this point.

I took the eggs out of the turner last night and filled both bowls with water. They were dry but my humidity has been a constant 50% without. Tonight when I got home one of my brown eggs from the mutt group is peeping and as you can see currently trying to hatch out. That's pretty thrilling for me since I have never hatched anything before. By my count I did not think anything would hatch until friday if at all.

I heard from Randy yesterday.. also... I emailed him back this morning with answers to some of his questions about the incucube.. Looks like I will need a new top too.. I cranked it up yesterday, again after hearing from Randy.. Got it to 99.7 by 10:30 Tuesday night.. Got up this morning at about 7:45 and went in and checked it and it had dropped to 77 degrees.. moved knob alittle and got heat to go up but within about 30 minutes it had dropped again.. and the little heater things were not heating.. I'm waiting to hear from Randy again after emailing him back this morning..

Hope the babies are hatching okay.. Fingers crossed for ya'll

How exciting for you. I can't wait till I hatch some eggs too. I have never hatched any yet either. I'm glad someone has had good luck, hope the rest do good for ya.

The egg from yesterday is still "working" on it I guess the hole is slightly larger but the other brown egg hatched this morning according to my husband who was home. I do see signs on the other white Brabanter eggs so crossing fingers they start hatching too. Can I take the spent egg shell out to make more room or just leave everything be?

The setting process has been pretty uneventful for me. I read all the notes on the dry hatching I could find as well as the directions that came with the IncuCube. I filled both bowls on day one and let it be and just monitored the readings. Stayed constant at 100 F and 50% humidity. When I opened on day 18 it was to dry bowls. I refilled and placed the eggs and reset the lid. Temp worked its way back up to 100 and humidity was at 49% w/in a few hours and by the next day at 50% so I am not sure what the humidity plays in everything. Just watching and hoping that more hatch. How long does the peep need to be in the incubator?

Hatching started yesterday and is wrapping up. Out of 12 eggs, I now have 7 hatchlings with 3 pips. I know that the other two are infertile. On a sad note, one of the 7 has some sort of neurological condition that makes it's head flop backwards and it's legs splay out so it sits on it's hocks. I am giving it poly sol vitamins and vitamin e, but since it is pretty new it is really not interested in eating or drinking. It looks good otherwise, very attentive and plump, clear eyes. I hope it makes it but it is sad to see it flop around.

I can say that I like the IncuCube but need to see some changes in it:

1. Channels or holes for an alternate thermometer/hygrometer's wires, also for the turner wires to lay into snuggly.
If you're going to use the included thermometer, then some sort of channel or pocket on the inside of the cube would be great. I tried taping it to the inside but it fell off too many times.

2. The motor for the turner seems to make it's arm fall in a forward direction and it can wedge directly under the heat element/fan if not addressed. The motor arm should be more sturdy/rigid.

3. Some sort of mesh on the bottom of the turner so more humdity can circulate while incubating, also some parking dots or dents for the turner to lodge into so it will not bump against the interior walls.

4. Instead of a larger round bowl, a square container that is almost the same size as the incubator. The one thing that I noticed was the water really evaporates quickly without the turner blocking the direct heat. I had 3 sticky chicks in the later stage of this hatch.

4. I would recommend that it only incubate up to 8 chicken eggs as with hatchlings flopping about and shells littered around, there is no room for really any more than that. I was so tempted to open up the incucube to get rid of the shells to let the chicks lay down flat completely.

I like this product. The temperature was very consistent, little fluctuation but that is to be expected. The fan was quiet and worked like a champ. The turner was so quiet and gentle. Just a bit frustrating about the wires being smashed down between the top and bottom because I didn't want to lose the heat or humidity. I know it is a beta tester now but I could see this being a rival to the hovabator for the home hatcher.

There are currently 4

that have hatched as of this morning and one is almost ready to make the final break, it's been working hard since the wee hours. It does get cramped and the chicks get active and climb all over the eggs and each other to have a buddy. I gave up and just opened the Cube and took out the shells to make more room. The unit gets back up to temp fairly quickly and the eggs are hatching so my mental ramblings tell me the eggs are going to hold their heat and the humidity has stayed constant. I figured more room was better than the cramped quarters. Can anyone compare this to the Brinsea 20 I think it is.... it looks cramped so maybe cramped is the norm.

I have been very happy with the IncuCube and can only say it would be a better product if the wires fit better to give a snug seam. Temp readers w/ probes should be the standard since space is a premium. Turner has been no problem and is very quiet. I was very happy with the egg o meter and did not take it out until last night to make more room. I am still using the reader/hydrom w/probe to monitor. A chick sat on it and the temp went up
