Indian Runner duck and Pekin Duck?

I LOVE MY PEKEIN

I bought 6 runner and a jumbo pekin to start with then got more Pekins and a few more and a few more. They are alot layed back than my runners, but my runners are funy, funny, funny and laugh....good lord, they are always laughing at me. I say get half a dozen of each

and go from there. If you look back thru my post you will see photos of my ducks.
Mine are laying huge eggs every day, but yes granted we live in SC and its still nice wether for this time of year. I will be posting photos of my eggs later, I got a tiny egg layed today by 1 of my Khakis so want to show you all how small it is compared to the eggs I get every day.

Ok. Thanks guys! I think i'm going to get 2 female Pekin ducklings from metzer farms in February! For now I just have to buy everything, and set up!

They are great layers, very social, pretty quiet, and BEAUTIFUL ducks.

I think you are addressing it wrong. You have a dog, so you want a calm duck so the dog does not think hunting time. I have 3 hunting dogs and 1 herding dog. So I was looking for something calm and something that does not run. That eliminated runner ducks right of the bat. I was also looking for a large duck, again same reason the dogs. So I've got myself Saxony ducks. They are heavy weight ducks that are very calm and very good egg layers too. I now have 9 ducks that hang around with my 4 dogs, and my cat is afraid of them. Also, if you get 3. Make sure only one is a boy to they will fight once they get mature and may even injure the girl. Try two girls and one boy, or 3 girls.
