Indian Runners

I recently bought a pair if blue runners. I wanted to post pix and get honest 'breed' or show feedback. I don't have any breeder experience with these. Thank you. They are about 8 weeks. I wish the blue showed better in pics.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Well they look very healthy and happy.....but they should not have any white showing anywhere and the necks should be longer, tail pointing straight down, very erect carriage. and the bodies slimmer. Look at some of the pics I have posted to see the body type.

Okay... anything about color? So, these should not be bred and should only be pets. Alright. I'm batting zero here. Though, I admit I liked the body type... in case they are eaten. Thank you for the honesty. I had wanted another breed, Magpies or maybe Silver Apple Yard, but figured eggs and comedy were necessary above all else so I got these hoping they weren't too poor quality. And I like blue.

Color? Well on my monitor..... aside from the white, they also look kind of brown. A good colored blue should be a uniform bluish slate throughout with each feather on the back laced with a darker shade of blue. If you want birds that conform to the APA descriptions, get them from Holderread Waterfowl in OR. He is reasonable and they are awesome in color and type. This female will probably set on eggs for you and with that body there is something to eat if that is what you want to do. He sells most breeds of domestic waterfowl.

Here are my three girls, in a still picture, they are now five and a half weeks old and have brought us so much joy already. Today my 5yr old daughter was digging in the dirt with them, looking for slugs and turned to me saying, "Mama, I'm so glad we got ducklings they are just so cute!" I couldn't agree more. I guess I'm hooked on runners, even though mine are for sure not show quality

Thanks CalBells. Not too many people show these, so just enjoy them......looks like the wing feathers are just coming in. Are the two on the left black or Chocolate?
Are you raising these in SF? I lived many years in SF and raised birds there back in the day....in the Sunset District if you can believe that?
