Indiana 2010 Chickenstock-2011 NEWS!!

I'm set to get some Silkie eggs in a range of different colors, so if I have a good hatch, I'll be bringing most of them to sell. I plan to keep a few, but sell the rest. If you have a Cuckoo Marans pullet, I'd be interested Egg Newton. I have a Silver roo and I am not yet sure if the 2 chicks I have are pullets are not. It's looking like they are, but I'd still like a 3rd one for him. IF I have a good hatch (

) , perhaps we could trade. And I'm really wanting more FBCM. Let me know if you hatch out more. I think I have a pair, but I could be wrong, and I need more than just a pair. I'm looking to have at least 4 pullets for a roo to establish a solid breeding flock. I'm looking for the French standard for both FBCM and Cuckoo as I have feathered leg now for both and want to keep to the French standard.

Ok, if you can't make it maybe we can set up something on the side. All of my marans came from Little Grey Bantam. I needed to test my bator and she needed to test a shipping box so we sorked out a deal. I'm not sure if they are clean legged or feather legged.

I will be making some extra hanging nipple waterers to bring. one gallons for $10 I think is what I was charging last year. I can also make a couple 5 gallon ones for $20.

Lastly, if anyone is interested in DE I got a good deal on a bag and will be separating it into 5# bags for $5. I may also be able to get a whole 44# for $40. If anyone wants some please let me know!

I'm hatching those two now; not sure of prices yet. I'll have a better idea when I see what they are going for at some swaps--I usually try to price a little under the going rate.

That sounds great. Let me know what you plan to charge, so I know what I can spend.

I may have some Royal Palm turkey poults to sell or trade. My hen just started laying this week and I am planning to hatch as many as I can

I will be looking for a few nice bearded blue or splash Silkie hens or I may consider trading.

How are the Royal Palms personality wise? I think they are the most beautiful, as far as turkeys go. Depending on how the hatch goes, I may have some goslings to bring if anyone is interested, Brown Chinese. But that will depend on how the hatch goes. They go into lockdown on the 2nd, and of the 11 I have in there, 8 are developing. It's my first time attempting to hatch geese, so we'll see how it goes. I feel pretty good that I got 8 this far! I'd be happy if even 1 hatched! And it looks like I'll have some Speckled Sussexes, and Welsummer/Speckled Sussex crosses to bring. Egg Newton I got my FBCM and Cuckoos from Little_Grey_Bantam too. So I know hers are feather legged. And they are sooooo sweet. The two little Cuckoos I got from her are so sweet. As I type this they are sleeping on my shoulder, curled up with one another. I have my little TSC Barred Rock pullet perched on my hand watching me type, lol. She is moving with me as I type, silly bird. I'm not selling her though! I'll also have a couple of Silkie mixes to bring, some Bantam Cochins, and Bantam Cochin mixes, as well as SCM mixes. The SCM mixes will grow up to make really nice layers.

Mine are very calm, but I did go through a period this winter where my tom wanted to attack me and my husband. I think he may have just been testing the limits, or perhaps was bored. He is over that now, though, but he loves to gobble!

They don't like to be touched, but they don't run from me either. I am raising a few for the freezer this year, too.

I'm back! Hello again my fellow chicken peeps
big_smile.png

I would love to come to this again, Chuck has graciously offered to come get me again if I can't get a way to Louisville. I'm trying, we (dad) finally have a working vehicle, so I should be able to get there

I'm not sure what all I'll have to bring this year, none of my chickens are in breeding groups yet, except my barred rocks. Both cochins are broody, both silkies are broody (don't have a silkie roo anyway), a lot of my OEGB are broody or with chicks. I'm moving my golden lakenvelders to their breeding pen soon, I'm afraid to get washed away today though, so whenever it stops raining I'll be doing that

I won't bring anything more than what I have need of, so if you need anything I might have please let me know. From what it seems, Chuck's van will be pretty full, I don't want to bring anything 'extra'.

So here's a tentative list of what I can bring (eggs or babies), if interested please let me know
smile.png

Coturnix quail (jumbo brown and golden, pharoah tibetan, tuxedo, white)
Button quail (young adults, chicks don't travel too well

)
golden lakenvelders
barred rocks
EE (should have some by then

)
pekin or rouen ducklings
Guinea keets or eggs (lavender, buff, dundotte)

I don't hatch ANYTHING unless there is a demand, so be sure to let me know that you want something on my list with enough time for them to hatch

Buttons would need to be 4-5 weeks old to sex, so I'd need to know by the start of June if anyone wants some

I will probably have a couple of Black Copper Marans cockerels to bring, I've got 10 babies and looks like half of them are boys...we'll see

As for food, looks like I'm bringing some more deviled quail eggs, I'll just have to get some rubber gloves first so my fingers don't go numb!

And my guest list should be 2, me and my son
