Indiana 2010 Chickenstock-2011 NEWS!!

Hey shelley! I've been wondering how you've been doing! Everything good down in Ky? Is there a chance you could have a BR pullet or two? I have recently discovered that I love BR personalities. Do you still have the hens I traded you last year? The pair of Mottled I got from you are wonderful. The roo just became a daddy, got a blue chick and a black chick from him. Sold the blue (a cockerel), and kept the black (pullet). He's now worked his way up to second in command of the flock and is the official peacemaker. He stops all fights pretty quickly, and is a very good boy. I love him to pieces. The hen is so sweet and tolerates the kids hugging and kissing on her. And the Button Quail I got from you last year are thriving as well. I get such a kick out of the little male. If he hears the roos outside crow, or my cockatiel start to sing, he chimes in and crows, but it's so soft and sounds so much like laughing that I laugh every timehe does it. He's hilarious. I hope to catch you there again this year, especially if you do bring some BR pullets. Are your FBCM cockerels feather legged? I MIGHT need one if yours meet the French standard. I have two FBCM chicks but I don't know yet whether they are pullets or cockerels. If they are pullets, then I'll need a cockerel. If I have a pair, then I will only be on the lookout for more pullets. I'll let you know soon what mine are. It's wait and see right now as they are only going on 4 weeks old right now.

I'm setting a last batch of Bantams in my bator in a few days, and then I'm giving the bators a rest til the Fall. It's getting awful warm with them running all the time and the brooders running constantly. They've been on for a long time now. So, if anyone is interested in some Bantam Cochins, or Cochin mixes, let me know now. I'm going to put whatever I collect from the Bantams over the next couple of days in the bator once the batch that is hatching now is done and I get a chance to clean the bator out. I have 8 eggs right now, but I should have a dozen or more by the time I set them in the bator. I've been hatching out Splash, Blue, Black, and Barred Cochin chicks so far, as well as Silkie/Cochin mixes. Man, they all have AWESOME leg feathering! I don't remember if I mentioned this before or not, but I'll also have Cuckoo Marans mixes for sale as well. If you're looking for good layers, and gentle birds, these are perfect. I have a wonderful Silver Cuckoo Marans roo in with my hens (BA, SLW, Welsummer mixes, ASL), and he is so good with them, and the ladies lay so good that I get anywhere from 6 to 9 eggs a day from them. There are 9 girls. I think I might bring some hatching eggs from them to donate, but I should have some more for sale with me that day too. Let me know if anyone is interested so I know what, and how many to bring. Only 3 months to go!!! Can't wait!

@ chicken_china_mom: I have 10 BCM, and I think all are feather legged except for one, which I believe is a pullet. So they are the FBCM.

My BRs have just started laying, actually only one of the pullets is so far. But I'll be setting all their eggs for a while, so I should have some pullets then, how many would you want?

We do still have the 2 partridge cochin girls, one of them is broody right now

I still haven't found a partridge rooster, I almost had one last fall, but I wasn't able to get to Louisville to meet the person that had him. One of these days I might get one, for now they will be with a black mottled, once I get my pens done.

Almost over-another 5 weeks. I am so ready! My back hurts, my ankles are swollen, and I am having problems with my blood pressure and my sugar is high

I had problems with blood pressure with Rylan, but these other problems are all new for me.
I will save a tom for you (if I can tell by then!)-mine are very friendly and calm. I have never had turkeys before, so I have nothing to compare them to, but I really like these.

Ooohhh, if you are bringing FBCM I definitely will want some! I'm still waiting to see what the 2 I have are. So far I am thinking both are pullets, but I can't tell for absolute sure. I'll know within another few weeks though. As for the BR, I keep flip flopping as to what the one I already have is. Some thinks it's a roo, others think pullet, but honestly, this bird exhibits absolutely NO roo behavior, so I'm baffled. If it's a hen, I'd like to get maybe 10 or two more pullets, if it's a roo I'd need at least 2 more. I guess I have to wait more for that comb and those wattles to develop...

The girl that I sold my last Partridge pullet to last year has hatched out a bunch of chicks from her, and she gave me one. I am thinking it's a roo though. Just my luck. This bird has the best coloring and foot feathering! I'm trying to decide whether I want to get back into the partridge color or not. I am thinking I will. If I decide not to, I might sell him. But first I need to make sure it's a roo! If it's a pullet I can see if they have a roo. I am fairly certain they will have a few, and their partridge are partly from my stock. But their roo is really good looking. Want me to ask them?

We'll be there. We should have some hatching eggs, chicks, well started and full grown to sell. We only do Pure breeds and will have some of each in LF and Bantam size. Let me know what ya'll are looking for I might just have it.. Lol
