I should have some Millie Fleur D'uccles pending a good hatch... I have 34 in the bator now.

And if you don't find any girls for you porcelain rooster and want to sell him I would be interested in him.

I'm sure I'll have some seramas hatched out by then.

Oh!!! I want them! Lol! Sorry, I'm excited that someone will be bringing Seramas! I won an auction 3 weeks ago for Bantam Cochins, Black Mottled d'Uccles, and Seramas. Out of 30 eggs only 2 d'Uccles and 4 Cochins hatched. Quite upsetting! Not a single one of the Serama eggs hatched. I cracked them open afterwards and all but 2 had fully formed chicks, they just died before they could pip. I was very upset about that. So I'm looking to get some. What colors are yours?

And Shelley, is this a pullet or cockerel? This bird is so sweet and calm, I just love it! It doesn't try to dominate the waterer like the little boys, and it doesn't do any chest bumping or anything that screams "ROO!" like some of the other boys do. I have half the people saying it's a roo and half saying it's a pullet. It has black down the legs and more black than white for color. The comb is there, but it's not huge. I have Speckled Sussex roos the same age as Hope and they have more comb than this baby. I mean this baby has more sweetness in one little toe than the nicest Silkie or Cochin, and I didn't expect that! I expected a feisty, curious, mischievious bird. Hope is quite the opposite!

Here is my little Hope. She/he is 4 weeks old now:

I don't recall if I asked this before or not but, is anyone interested in Speckled Sussex or Speckled Sussex/Welsummer mixes? Cause I ended up with more SS than I wanted to keep and I don't want the mixes at all, so I'm trying to sell them. If I can't sell them, they will be headed to freezer camp. I have 8 total for the SS and 4 of the SS/Wel mixes. I only want to keep maybe 2 or 3 of the SS. It's not a breed I wanted to get into, but I wanted a few for my kids to take to 4-H. However, I do like their gentle personalities. They really are sweet little birds! So if anyone would be interested in some, let me know. They are 4 weeks old now. I also have a few standard EE chicks I can sell as well as several Silkie mixed chicks and some Marans mixed chicks. If anyone wants me to bring them, let me know.

I must have missed this somewhere, but where is it being held? I am very new to the whole chicken raising adventure and would love to come to meet everyone. My aunt is a chicken owner too, for all i know she'll be attending!

It will be in Indianapolis on the first Saturday in August. It is like a great big family reunion/picnic/chicken swap all rolled into one! Rob and Kathleen are excellent hosts! This is the second year they are hosting it.

We would be intersted in your pure speckled sussex. What kind of marans do you have?

Oh good. I'll go through and take another look at the Sussex and see which ones my daughter wants to keep, and then I'm selling the rest.
My Marans for now are mixed, my roo is a pure Silver Cuckoo Marans, and is absolutely gorgeous. But I didn't have any Cuckoo hens, til now. However, my hens are only 4 weeks old, lol! So I won't have pure Cuckoos til next year. And I believe the two FBCM I have are pullets too, so I have to get a roo for them, and hopefully a few more pullets too. But if you're interested in the mixed chicks, they are gorgeous and will be excellent layers. All my standard hens lay wonderfully. I'm in the process of fixing my standard flock and creating 2 separate Marans flocks. Eventually I want some White Marans and Splash, but I'm patient! First I need to get my FBCM and my Cuckoo flocks established!

And if you want to see my roo, you can see him on my website. He is my baby, and such a good boy.

I would say pullet, I have one about 6 weeks old that looks just like her. Have you posted the pics here? Rooster chicks are much lighter than pullet chicks are.

ETA: Look at the pic on this page---> https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=1654252 and tell me what you think. Look at the color, not the wattles/combs. These are at 6 weeks old.
Just because I'm feeling nit-picky, I'll borrow it and post here

REMEMBER, YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE COLOR, NOT THE WATTLES/COMB

This is a pair of 6-week-old BR posted by speckledhen on the above post

Here's another, post #15. The first pic is a roo, second is a pullet, third is a roo (at 4 weeks old)--> https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=53603&p=2

Yes, after looking at those threads I agree, it does look like my Hope is a Hope, and not a BOB Hope!

I'm so happy that we were right when we picked her out! She's my first BR and I wasn't sure what to expect. All I do know is that I just LOVE this bird!
love.gif
She has stolen my heart completely, more so than all the little cuties I've hatched out thus far! She is so incredibly sweet. Is that typical of a BR? If so, I want more! I can't get over how calm she is too. She isn't acting like all the other teenagers where if you put your hand in the brooder they all scatter like cockaroaches when the lights go on. Instead she stands there and waits to be picked up with this look on her face like "What took you so long to come get me mom?" If this sweet nature is typical of BR's then I'll definitely be looking to get a few more girls.
