Indiana 2010 Chickenstock-2011 NEWS!!

My family is from West Virginia and there isn't anything wrong with a southern drawl! People used to call us rednecks and I always hated it until I found out the real meaning of redneck....Redneck just means you eat everything with gravy on it!!!!

We'll be the ones with the hillbilly accents.

I have a horrible Southern drawl and I've lived less than an hour south of Indy my entire life. People I work with and hang out with make fun of me for it.

I grew up in northern IN, about an hour south of Gary. My brother moved to KY in 1994, the first time I came down to visit was probably 3-4 years later. I don't know what I thought, maybe that people didn't have accents until after you crossed the IN/KY line, but I was shocked that people in southern IN had such strong accents!

Its funny you say that. I live in Evansville, which is right on the River. I can be in Kentucky in 10 minutes and as soon as you DO cross the bridge, the drawl is so much stronger than on the northern side of the river!

BTW: My husband is from KY too!

I grew up near Gary. Went to school in Hobart. I married very young and moved down here and been here for most of the last 30 years. There are people here with such strong accents they sound like hill people. Even these people around here can notice it. They say they have a "Country" accent. They all sound country to me but some more than others.

I'm curious to know if anybody is interested in buying or trading for some Phoenix I have. I want to bring them but would love to know if there is any interest. I posted an ad in the sale section and here's the link. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=375034
I
would like some input on these if possible. Apparently i'm asking too much or there's no interest. I don't know which. What i'm looking for are crested polish and if I can specifically have what i'm wanting are a pair of white crested black frizzled polish. I'm also wanting cortunix quail and phesants. I'd be willing to make a trade if somebody is interested. I'll be bringing some silkie/ee cross chicks and a few EE chicks that I have left. I have a phoenix cross chick, 2 production red and ee cross chicks and a couple I have no idea the breed of. I had a lady stop by yesterday and buy a bunch so what I have left i'll bring. I'll also be bringing hatching eggs.

The 2 hens are of laying age but haven't been laying due to the heat. All 3 roos are old enough for breeding. I'm sure the specifics are in the post on the ages.

Hi!

I may be able to attend as well! If anyone is interested in any of my Red or Black Dorking Roosters (listed for sale with pics on the 8wks+ area) I can take them to the meet.I'll make you a deal if you want more than one - they're pretty roos!

I also have a black silkie/polish cross and lavendar silkie (pet only) for sale. If you'd like more pics, please let me know.

P.S. My hubby is from the hills of N. Alabama. When we went out to California.... They REALLY gave him some funny looks when he talked

My thing to bring to all family gatherings is deviled eggs.

I would imagine that's already taken. I will come up with something and bring something.

I grew up in northeast Ohio so when I moved to Indiana *everyone* had a southern accent and people asked me if I was Canadian.

I know Shelley is bringing deviled quail eggs but we don't have anyone bringing chicken eggs! Are you in for that?
