I would defintly start soaking and leave the wraps off for a little bit each time to dry.. can you get a pic ?? I would like to see it and may have better ideas for you.. Also did you call the folks who removed them to ask if they had any ideas?? Its worth a shot.. If you dont have sea salt , you can use regular, or kosher salt...

Or Epsom Salts.
