INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I have been lucky with the hawks so far, its the fox that keeps showing up every so often. I will get it yet.
It snatched one of my GLW cockerels this weekend, I cant believe how bold the thing is.
I keep my rifle with me but it comes in so fast, its usually too late or not a safe shot to take.
Yes, you aren't kidding! My 4 adults will harass the fox, he can't get them. I have seen him try out in the back corner of our property by the creek, they just fly away from it.
Its scary, but truly impressive to see how high a fox can jump... I have yet to get a safe shot off to nail that critter but its days are numbered.
My 2 guinea cocks will actually charge it, then fly off. They will take on a tom turkey, just fearless. My 4 adults I can't put with the main flock, the boys attack the chickens too.
Both hens are social with all of the birds and are no problem. All my hatched guinea are being raised with the main flock. I really hope it makes a difference.

Ugh..I hate all of that, especially driving on it! I have a frost free hydrant by the coops so am not dealing with carrying buckets this winter. My goats have a heated bucket for the winter also.

I just love your coop! Maybe next year I can set up a garden plot

Would sure love some fresh squash.
Yes the hawks. We have a lot of them flying around here. And the huge great horned owls. We do have the very secure roof over the run, the girls sleep outside 95% and I have no worries.

The coop/run is in the area we've had the veggie garden the last 15 years, nothing there now but the coop and some sugar baby watermellons that the chickens have not found out about (yet).

My DH scopes out the parking lots, and we do the donuts in our tracker! It beats any festival ride you ever went on

I may be old but love to play a lil too

I hate being cold, give me summer any day.

Mother2Hens can make you one. It really helps to see where you are

Donuts are the best! My dad had almost and has gotten tickets doing donuts in town doing donuts.

M2H- wishing the best for Violet. I currently have a speckled Sussex hen that is limping. When she walks its almost like she is unsure of her footing and lifts it really high. I've had her confined to a cage in the coop but haven't noticed any progress. I need to do a search, but I had a limping duck last year and read it was safe to give aspirin. It seemed to help her, might try it for the chicken if its safe. Ill have to call the vet tomorrow and see if they have any recommendations.

Beautiful cat! I'm happy with only one cat, but eventually I'd like to get an Abyssinian or Cornish Rex. I never realized how many different cat breeds there are! When I worked at the vets office, we saw a few rag dolls. They always seemed very well tempered and sociable.

Also since M2H seems to be encouraging me to get more breeds

, anyone have any connections for modern game bantams? I'm more interested n the Birchen and red brown colors, but open to any.

Oh, beware the monster that is the Aby... though they do steal your heart. Naughtiest cats ever! We are on our second right now. My first was a female and sweet as can be, but she loved to drag our socks all over the house. Every night we would pick up at least 5-10 socks she had scattered across the house.

Our male, Archimedes is an @hole. I love him to death, but wow is he something else. It's a good thing he's so pretty. He is constantly on the counters and loves to knock things off of them or eat whatever food may be available. We've not found anything that will deter him... but then he decides to cuddle and my heart melts. They are extremely active as well and constantly in your business. All that being said, they are my breed, and we'll always have one. You just can't beat their personalities.

Beautiful! Your male sounds just like my current cat, Sigmund. He was a shelter rescue that came into the vets I worked at for an URI. He acts more like a dog. Friendliest cat ive met. But he is a counter surfer, chews on anything he can, begs for food more than the dogs, etc. But wouldn't trade him for anything. Do you breed them? Here is my

Look at that belly!!! So sweet! I don't breed them, there is just way to much involved with that and I would never have time for it. I don't mind paying someone else to do the dirty work. ;) My first was actually my dads. He came across her in a pet store and fell in love with her. She ended up being WAY to active for him so he gave her to me. Hands down best can we've ever had. She played fetch, would go on walks with us and the dog, and preferred to sit on your shoulders. Sigmund and Archimedes would get a long I think. They even have similar sitting positions.
