One of the hens I will attempt butchering myself when we run out of chicken in the fridge. I am actually just south of columbus, near jonesville, but columbus adress.

Cluckacres,animalover, so sorry for your loss! It's hard. We had a coyote in our field below the house yesterday morning, DH did a shot in the air to scare it, then we had a large dog in the yard later. Now I'm scared to let mine out. And of course they have been down where the coyote was all weekend. Kinda waiting for the worst to happen.

I dont know how blue died we went out to feed the girls and check the coop and she was dead I was going to show her in 4-h

Pbirdhaven- I agree completely!! Although my Jacks thought they could whoop that big dog that came by. And that's why we have a fenced yard!! I might just be looking for a Pyrenees ( don't tell the hubby!!). I do want to get a couple sheep and goats too and will have to think about it for them. Along with better fencing. When I was a kid and we had sheep ,coyotes weren't the problem it was dog packs. But there weren't deer like now either!
