INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Someone finally responded to my'bantam cochins wanted'advert on CL. Asked them for a picture of their bantam Cochin rooster.... Here is what they are offering.

Going to mail them back in the morning with the news that his guy is most certainly not a Cochin.

He has some nice looking crows that he is selling as Jersey Black Giants, too.

Good morning everybody! It's fllippin' cold outside!
I went out and checked on my girls. Snow was less than pleased that Ashes was running around her side of the coop trying to find a way out.

No attacks, just a very serious puffing up and growling.

So I let Ashes out with the others for their morning grazing.
If Ashes was running around in there, she is not broody. I guess putting her in there was a good test of her intentions :D

Not to say that she won't go broody sometime soon...

The strangest thing for me is my mom not recalling her natural hair color. It was brown in every picture I have seen of her since her wedding until I was about 9. Then she went blonde and the roots came in dark. I remember all of the trips to the salon with her as mother daughter time when those dark roots were made blonde. well now her gray is made blonde. But she insists that one of my children get's their blonde hair from her. I have not had the heart to show her the old photos even if I did look at them several times to make sure I was not going insane. I just can't figure how all that time we spent together while she was getting her hair bleached is just gone in her mind. But that is about the only major forgetful thing right now. Then there are those tiny things like ohh you went to the store yesterday, I was going to ask you to pick up a jar of pickles. But mom I did get your pickles I just have not had time to drop them by yet.
I also think please don't let me forget the easy stuff or the memories.

My husband and I have moved in with my 92 yo blind dad who is now going downhill slowly and needs someone there 24 hours. We have some home help during certain hours also. (Husband and I both work.)

That's great that you can be there to take care of him. I know one of the hardest decisions my grandpa had to make was to put my grandma into an Alzheimer's unit. Alzheimer's and dementia are really tough diseases to watch! I've lost both of my grandmas this year, one to Alzheimer's the other had dementia. It's scary to think it could be heriditary!

Janet: I am now among the Fermented Feeder Bunch.

I just started it Sunday morning. It is made from corn fines.

I used a paint stirrer to mix it up. It should be ready to go Thursday or Friday, right?

Sal - if you had a pullet I'd probably take 1 of each.

Of the 10 eggs I set only 4 hatched 3 roos and a pullet. I was hoping for 2 girls and a roo when I set the eggs. At least I got one girl.

Maybe there will be a hen or young chick for sale at the show this Saturday. Then you will want my little guy. To be honest I don't want to feed the extra roosters during the winter just to process. I would much rather give them away.
