INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

In keeping up with tradition, the little silkies came out to watch tv with us last night.

Just like the bigs guys did last spring...
They poop way too much for too much time on the bamboo floors. :)

I dont know if they are actually thinking about doing this but I came across this article online and thought I would share. It is terrible, I cant believe they would do this, some animals are treated so horribly.

Some may not want to read this

One more reason to raise my own meat and eggs!!!

Happy Monday everyone!

It has hardly been two weeks since I had to part with my flock and I have already made my list for next time and I really want Rhonda's Mille Fleur Cochin Roos!! I got some cochins from her in the summer and I feel terrible that they are gone.

SO, looking at the websites for chickens, which one's do you all like?

I have about 20 breeds on my "list." Do the mail-order hatcheries get mad at you if you want one or two of that many breeds? It's hard to make a order right now because most breeds are out due to it being winter. So it's kind of hard to figure costs.

Any ideas?

Hatcheries are great if you don't care about showing! My girls are strickly pets and came from Meyers. I will go there again to get the hodgepodge that I want to add to my flock as they don't care if you only want one or two of a breed.

To pipd: sorry about your baby girl. she is better now..and from the pic you took recently how cute that her beard was turning grey!!

kabhyper~ In your photo below, is that their little TV next to the big TV?

They are so sweet!! You might want to put a firm rug or towel down so that they don't slip on your floors. Most of our chickens like to sneak in the door when they can and we have hardwood floors, which can be slippery. Nene hasn't slipped, though, and she will race over to the refrigerator hoping to get a blueberry or grape. I bought one of those floor steamers (and a hand-held one) because of my sneaky chickens.

Urbanmom~ Frizzled bantam cochins sound cute! I recently saw some Sizzles (frizzled Silkies) that were adorable, too.

Anyone have ideas for keeping my babies from sleeping in the nesting boxes? I'd cover them at night but my hens start laying before I get out there in the morning.
