they all look great! I'm needing more white silkies, so if you have any extra eggs you ever want to sell let me know!
oh my, poor hen! She is a keeper for sure, and deserves mealies, nightcrawlers and yogurt!
My cornish cross hen lays a HUGE DY egg too. Yep meat birds can lay!
LilX is one of my best layers.
I picked up a few chicks, from Brad S., about a month ago and I am finally uploading a few photos. So far, what a great group of birds!
The Silkie is about 6 weeks

Any thoughts on the coloration or gender? He's definitely getting a few odd colored stragglers coming in. I know nothing about coloration or Blue genetics.
The next two are Birchen Marans and about 7 weeks old.

If you can zoom in at all, there are white marks on his head feathers.
Are those copper flecks in the back feathers?
Omg, I didn't realize this breed was so gorgeous!

The SFH and BM always do the dance, when I put them in the yard. So they scream Roos, unless it's normal pecking order behavior.
they look about the same as mine as far as the feathering. I'll let you know in the next say or two if I'd like for you to hold back eggs. I'm trying to just get some pullets/hens but not having much luck.Brad, they are still laying. Do you want me to save some back for you? I can't guarantee all whites, my roo is blue. I got 5 whites out of 14 that hatched. Since you have bred silkies before, what do you think of thier development so far in the feathering department? Normal for their ages or under developed? My hens have huge crests so does Booker my roo, so I hope they get them too.
i will definitely let you know. I do have some in the incubator but I believe they are partridge eggs. If I can't locate a couple pullets/hens then I'll be getting some more eggs.I'm looking for another blue silkie...or two. Brad if you decide to hatch, let me know if either of you would like to part with one.
I was wondering the same thing. I am on here a lot and for the last week or so things have been so slow. I like when it takes me 2 hours to catch up on all the threads. What happened to Indiana? Where is everyone hiding?![]()
I got two new hens today. They are black jersey giants that were going to be used for the dinner table but my friend gave them to me. I can't wait for some jumbo eggs!
