Well, I had always heard the stories about Silkies, but this still came as a surprise to me! Margie's gone broody! At 7 months old! :th

Congrats. My phoenix pullet went broody like that. Just a month after she started laying! She turned out to be a great mom. Of course, now isn't the greatest time to be raising babies, but at least you have one willing.

Well thanks to Janet for cleaning out my brooders (literally! I think I sent her home with just under 15 chickens!) I was able to move some around. I got a temporary silkie pen together. The roo was originally in with my partridge pen until I came home to him bloody and beardless. Him and the other roo got into it and the white lost lol. So the last several weeks he has been a lonely bachelor. I didn't want to put just the single white pullet in with him as I figured he would over breed her. So my next youngest partridge pullet is in with the pair of whites now. Here are some quick pictures I snapped with cell phone.

My two ducks are 20 weeks old today. Eggs will be coming soon. I just know it. No good reason other than age and they are khaki ducks.

Now I just need to decide if tomorrow is a good day for processing or if I want to wait till next week. I of course would much rather work on the new coop that will never really be done. Still the thought of feeding those 5 meaties for another week, that is what will be the deciding factor I'm sure.

I hope you get eggs soon!!! 34 weeks and I'm still waiting for my duck's first egg *sigh*

Located in Pulaski County here! Just had to join this page...hoping to expand my more exotic flock this spring. Excited to get started since I just started hatching out sizzles!! ;)

very pretty if I got the right ones on google images.  my khaki's are pretty in their own way but the appleyards on google sure look better.

My female appleyard is mostly brown and not much white on her, but I hope maybe after her first molt she will get more white.
