INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Peaceful- I hope they can find out what caused it. Thinking of you!;)

Minmin- she sounds like my EE's as they molted. My concern would be because it's soooo cold now. Maybe a sweater for her is indeed needed!! I have several who are just now looking better from their molt and have looked just horrid. And been sooo grumpy. I've been giving everyone some cheap kitten food for extra proteins and oils.

Kab- can't believe you can get rid of those adorable babies!!!

Both of my ducks laid their first eggs today. They were smaller than the eggs that the ducks hatched out of but that is to be expected for a while. They were of course not laid in a box so not that clean. And of all things the eggs must have been laid super early, as they were frozen solid, cracking the shell by 7:30am. Since they were dirty and shell cracked, they got mixed into the soaked feed for the afternoon. I did not even get to taste them. Not as bad as a no shell first egg though.

I'm keeping some of them. :) The ones that have homes are going to friends, so I know they are getting good places to live.

All my other chickens are so mean to my d'uccle. Every pen I put her in she is bombarded by bullies and manages to find a way to escape. I feel bad for her. So I made her her own little temporary condo. It used to be for when we had horses and put there brushes and stuff in it. So I put a little bit of wood inside of it and a little food and water cup. She loves it! She hardly ever goes on the ground anyways as she prefers being high in the air.And she can perch on the edges. She get down if she wants and run around in the barn. I know she won't go out of the barn she never goes far away.

Well might be getting someone's collection of silkies! I've gotten several chicks and many hatching eggs from her, all the chicks have turned out beautifully. So I'm pretty exciting. I'm still waiting for the "inventory" (exact # of silkies) and price, but think I will most likely get them. I think total will be around 30-40 silkies with more than half that being chicks from day olds to couple weeks. If it all works out, I'll be frantically making new pens for them all. Thank goodness I picked up some metal siding/roofing from work really cheap! I got 24 - 3'x4' pieces of siding for $24 total. I should be able to make 3 coops out of it I think plus dad gas some left over from one of his jobs!

I just pulled one showgirl and two silkies out of the hatcher and went to move more silkie eggs out of incubator to the hatcher and found one silkie already hatched! A little blue partridge (I think lol). It's old day 18 but must have had a warm spot in the incubator. None of the others had pipped.

Lastly, I have 7 quail chicks that are 3 weeks old that need to go. Let me know if anyone is interested in them. I'll make you a good deal, they were supposed to be sold but seller backed out (or I should say went MIA once they were ready to go).

Thanks. eventually she will get her own little Nicer condo and hopefully a buddy to share it with. She is happy with it for now
I still gave that OEGB hen that you could take for a buddy for your d'uccle. She is still in with my silkies. I don't think she is too happy about it because I haven't gotten any eggs from her in months.

That is awesome Brad! Maybe we can do some silkie trading :)
