INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

How long do I let eggs sit before I put them in the incubator? I collected 4 more today which brings my total to 12 for my first hatch.

I longest i let mine set if 1 week before i set them in incubator. Make sure to put them in a egg carton and rotate them 45 degrees 3x per day. Keep them at a temp around 70 degrees which is like room temp in my house. Hope this helps.

Don't refrigerate. You want them to reach room temperature, and then can be put in the bator.within that week they were laid.
Gather all the eggs you can, pick the best day of the week for you if they were hatching. That day is your "setting day" (Tuesday is for me.) I gather all I can and set them all on the same day once a week. easier to keep track of.

Eggs older than a week lose their hatch rate pretty quickly from what i have read.

I set some eggs a day apart. When it comes to lockdown, should I just put them together? I really don't want to put them in separate hatchers but will if need be.

I've done it both ways, If they are my own eggs I"ll just put them together, But if they are shipped eggs ( especially the ones that are a day behind) I"ll use to hatchers.

I work 10 hr shifts so I'm not home to rotate the eggs 3 times a day, will this hurt them? I work 4 days a week and have my weekends off, that is why I am putting them in the bator tomorrow night or Saturday morning. How often do you turn them once they are in the incubator? I have a ot of questions, learning as I go.
