does anyone know what color Flo is or what color shell be??

Silver laced i bet, maybe blue even? but looks like the black will be her body color. She is very pretty!

I don't wash the eggs I set, they are usually very clean, once in a while usually when its rainy, i see a dirty one. I worry about the infection the yolk sacs can get, so i don't want to risk taking their defenses away. Whats everyone's thoughts on washing, not washing? I have read all sorts of views on it.

I dont wash the eggs i set either. I only set pretty clean ones. BTW did you see my comment on your incubator post?

I didnt leave it in there to find out if it stuck to the chick. I noticed it when I turned my eggs one day. It left the checkered pattern all over the side of the egg. And i thought rubber melting on the egg could not be a good thing and didnt know if it would get inside the egg. Well I didnt want to take that chance so i took it out and never tried it again.

Hmm that's odd. I have seen many people recommend it on this forum. I used it for the quail with no issues. I wonder if you got a bad roll of it?

your right many people do use it and have no problems. Maybe i did get a bad roll i dont know but since then have been afraid to try it again. Well maybe it will be alright to use.

guess I will wait and see. If i have to,i can replace it with paper towel, or just put the towels over the rubber. I just don't want them directly on the wire. I have seen so many birds with broken toes, especially racing pigeons. I know lots of people do it with good success too.
This being my first hatch, I will be super happy if even just 1 does, But this was really a trial run for the eggs coming. My coronation sussex are on the way, these will be my first shipped eggs, and I hope at least a few hatch from them.

They are just beautiful huge birds, and way too expensive, $15 bucks a chick!
