By any chance, do you have fertile eggs or chicks hatching in the next week? I have a broody silkie that has been sitting for 2 weeks. I got some eggs for her Christmas eve but I'm sure they are duds

I would also be interested in some of those silkies, esp any whites.

Right now i am only getting a few eggs a day. My silkie's are not even laying right now. I have one hen sitting on a small clutch and been trying to put more under her. I have another hen wanting to sit but has nothing to sit on too. It breaks my heart when a hen wants to sit and has nothing to sit on.

What are you looking for? I just got some from crazypetlady - she's just south of Fort Wayne - and she's got a lot in the brooder!

Cluck Acres and Leahs Mom hello and thank you

I would prefer to give her silkie eggs/chicks but would try just about anything to end the broodies !

My silkies story- I answered a craigslist add in September and walked into a bit of a horror show. Way too many birds in way too small of a pen, no food or water in sight,a mix of mostly large fowel with a few bantams and quite a reek. There were 3 little white silkies plucked half nekkid.Their heads and necks were bare & the smallest had her whole backside bare. They were severly underweight. The only reason we took them was because we figured they would be dead pretty soon if we didn't.

I put them in an isolation pen when we got them home & the hit the water like they didn't have a drink in a week. Then they hit the food. The larger of the 3 took charge, inspected the new quarters and tucked the other 2 underneath. When I got a better look at them the next day they had a whopping case of feather lice, treated that with ivermectin. I put them on broiler feed & the 2 little ones gained 4oz in a week.

At this point, I didn't quite know what we had. Was the larger bird a cockrel with 2 pullets? Turned out the larger bird, Andy, was the mom. Feathers started coming in.Andy started laying. And she laid like a fiend for 6 week. Then, she tenderly took charge of a golf ball and went hard core broody.
She still has feathers coming in & I would love to get her off the nest, it can't be good for her! She comes off the nest at 7:30am, spends 3 minutes eating, drinking, big broody poop & right back on the nest. I'm taking her off twice a day.She says hi to her kids, eat, drink, back on the nest-3 minutes tops.I would dearly love to end this and get her back to eating what she needs to finish feathering in.

So, I will give her anything I can get my hands on at this time of the year.

I don't believe it! I had some silkies that hatched about 8-10 days ago; put them in the brooder and completely forgot that there were some more eggs in the back of the incubator tray that I had put in a few days later. Today I started to get the incubator ready for some more eggs, and there were two pipping and 5 more definitely alive. Two that had developed didn't show any movement, but I put them in lockdown with the others just in case. There has been no water in the humidity pan for at least a week.

Guess I'll see how they turn out.

I have had trouble since I started using a Sportsman with chicks developing but not hatching. A breeder at a show this fall said that the instructions for humidity for hatching in the Sportsman call for too much when they go into lockdown and the chicks may be drowning before they can hatch. If this bunch is healthy, I'll know to cut back on the humidity.
