INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I'm really excited as i finally got 2 brown eggs today from my girls
big_smile.png
I think they are from Miss Daisy and Emma my 2 GLW but Ebony a BA(that's the abbreviation for black austrulorp right?)could be another option.

Yes, BA is black australorp

I got 2 eggs today too, both OEGBs.

Thanks! I put some under her wings, on her comb and wattles. I am cautiously optimistic, but her bubbles are suddenly gone. Her one eye has a very tiny opening, but they arent swelling shut anymore. She ate and drank a ton and was running around when I let her out to check on her. I will stick with the duramycin for awhile and keep giving her the vet rx and see how she does. She is sneezing more as her eyes get better, so I think it may be sinus pressure that is moving. I put some vet rx in a spray bottle with warm water and misted it over the flock per the vet rx instructions. Its supposed to help if they have been exposed. I didn't spray much because I didn't want to soak my den, or the silkies. Everyone else acts fine still. I hate this winter. They should be outside getting fresh air. I feel bad they are still inside, but putting them out now would shock them too badly.
It would, I still have my little peafowl in, and a few chicks.
I agree this winter has really been rough!

just wanted to share pictures of these very very rare chickens lolololol the top one is our "chill" border collie in my signature. He is very content laying at my feet bought he thought it would be more appropriate for a couch picture. The bottom one is of our lab/border collie mix. For some reason she only likes side profile pictures because every time i tried to take a picture she would turn her head just at the last second. Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far.

I went to orschlens in greenfield today just to "scout" things out. No chicks yet!!! But its for the best because i have the 5 BLRW coming at the end of Feb, can't wait!!!!!!!!!! Did however pick up some yummy wild rice soup while i was there and made it tonight for dinner and ohhhh was it good!! Now i'm off to read the book that i got there as well.

aww they both look precious! I will be at RK in new castle monday, bright and early

Finally they ALL spent most the day outside today. Even the mid-sized-models. (22 wks old).

They've been cooped up for way to long!!!!!!!!

AND... AND... AND...

2 PULLET EGGS!!!! (In addition to 3 hen eggs today)

That means it's confirmed that 2 of the 3 are female. (They probably all are but I don't count on it until I see an egg.

)

Nice to have everyone easing back into laying again. No supplemental light or anything. The olders are just recovering after their winter molt and rest and the youngers are just "that age".

Frankly I was surprised those 2 pullets were laying since I wasn't expecting it until end of March.
I was excited as I got 4 eggs from the LF yesterday. Thought they were going to start picking up on laying. Today, back to one egg

I'm not sure if they just buried them or have 3 pullets laying, but got 3 eggs from the white silkie pen!
My EE Carmen has layed ten days in a row. Yay!! You go girl!
Right after I put the new hens in a pen I got an egg. The don't mess around!

WOW look at the egg posts! We are getting over 10hrs of daylight now!
And it wont be long...another month and we can start thinking spring

I was really excited, have tried twice before and none hatched so this was really exciting! Today was beautiful outside!!! Let the girls and Redman out from noon til a little after 5 and they punished me by not giving me a single egg!!!
In time, you will be buried, it doesn''t take long either! I am being a lot more selective on hatches this year, and going to let more hatch their own.

Announcement: My two new English Orpington chicks from Kiniska joined my three Silkie chicks from bradselig!!!

I had the pleasure of finally meeting Kiniska and her DH today!!! I am so thankful to be the proud owner of her two chicks that hatched from her hen. I need to look up when the hatch was because I kept forgetting to ask! When I got home, I re-did the large dog kennel for their brooder since I could tell that the 40 gal. aquarium was already too small for the silkies from bradselig. I put the orps in the kennel first, and then added the silkies so it wasn't like the silkies' space was invaded (I'm thinking of the method for dogs and cats- haha). The orps stood still statues while the curious silkies looked them over and softly pecked them (probably wondering if they were real!) The dark orp stood in front of the splash orp. Within a few minutes they were eating around the feeder together like old friends! (low-res youtube link below) After I got the chicks settled, I went outside with my hens for two hours. When I came back in, the chicks were in a pile sleeping. So sweet! My son, Max, (age 27) and his GF came over for dinner and they loved holding them to help them get used to people.

I am still behind on the thread! I was so excited last night that I kept waking up.
I need to come down off of Cloud 9.

They are too adorable! I am so glad they are all together and getting along so well.
Max is sure studying that chick!

Quote: Hang in there! If she isn't drinking, then you will have to tube feed, or go with the tylan.
Main thing is to get medicine into her so it can do the job.
Duramyacin has its place. Tylan seems to be the "magic drug" in severe cases.
My BBW turkey hen is having problems still, so will get some tomorrow.
She is the one I kept since her demeanor and size is "normal"
I noticed her sinus cavities are swelling, eyes look puffy.
This rain today will invite problems too, everything damp and now freezing, UGH.

Thanks m2h. She has some puffiness and her eyes are bubbly at times. She is the one in my avatar. A lot can change in a couple of weeks.

kabhyper ~ I see that you are treating her, so you probably know what's going on.
I looked at my book, and the only thing that sounded like a possibility (although I don't know exactly what's been going on since I need to catch up on the thread) is Mycoplasmosis--a common occurrence--usually no mortality-- distinctive signs: Foamy eye discharge, more common in winter

jchny~ Not a flattering photo of Max, but I felt guilty cropping him out. haha Yes, he is a very serious type. Not sure how he got me for a mom! hahaha
