I have the cat so when a tiny bird is trapped, the cat will eat it. Every so often a bird will get trapped in our garage. It takes less than 15 minutes for the black cat to get it. Then eventually DH gets around to removing any uneaten feathers.
If I did not have the cat, drowning would cost less than shooting, dump all trapped birds in a bag and dunk for a while. Or if you have the nerve place birds in a large plastic store bag and tie shut real good. Then practice the whack a mole game. DH has done that when we had a live mouse trap, before the barn cat. But basically I would treat the small wild birds like mice. Trap and kill to get rid of any disease.
Oh Sally! M2H is going to croak when she reads that. I have a very good imagination and it almost did me in.

Hi, everyone. I'm looking for a decent brooding box locally. I'm near North Judson. It doesn't have to be beautiful. Just functional. Thanks everybody.
Tony
I just use a large dog crate too and wrap it with broken down cardboard boxes half way up to keep in the bedding. It worked well for us because we were able to hang the water and food dishes from the top and slide a 1x2 through the tines for the babies to roost on.
We've tried sand and shaving but liked the sand best.
DH's boss got wind that we were told we couldn't get feed on time and called him back to tell him to come get what he needs. So we just got back with a weeks worth of feed for all!!!!!! thank You God![]()
and I found a site that sugested hanging old pipe pans all over the place to keep the birds away so DH is working on that now, just wanted to update. going to help DH now... will let ya know if it works![]()
I've been thinking about you and your animals all day. I'm so happy for you that you get another week of time to figure out what to do. My DH was laid off once when my son was a baby and it was very very stressful. At the end he found a new position that was even better. I hope the patience and waiting will bring the same for you and your family of animals.

check it out !!!!!!! check it out!!!!!!!!!!! it is working !!!!!!!!!!!![]()
well pooo I cant get pic's to load... I hung pop cans from every place I could hang them close enough that they would hit together and make noise and swing in all the open places birds could get in through, and plastic bags like Walmart bags ect... about 2 ft from the top of the feeders, had to put old lids that I didn't have containers for in the bags for A LITTLE bit of weight. the chickens were wondering wtheck, but then didn't pay them any mine at all. I just hope the birds don't gt used to it...![]()
Good luck!
Chick crazed and Kab, those are nice pics!!
