INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I have to thank @lilmizscareall for the chance to buy her quad of partridge cochin bantams! They are just absolutely perfect and excited to add them to the breeding project!

Just lovely.

Also Curious, how many breeding pens are you planning for next season? Right now I'm at 6 pens with one of them being turkeys. Then I'll have a layer flock that will have fertile eggs but just mutts so no hatching from there unless I have no eggs from any of the 6 breeding pens.

AWWWWWW!!!
This makes me miss them!
I am excited to see the results, though. You'll have to float me a few eggs in the future. They are great birds, but I'm happy to see them move on. Sorry, we couldn't chat longer.

Hey, I am flyladyrocks daughter. I was at chick fest.I hope that I will get to know you all!

Welcome. Your friend was amusing and brave yesterday. I did not realize until right before you were leaving that she was afraid of chickens. When you come back, she is welcome to come and hold any of our chickens. The smallest chicks typically get the most affection. But our largest rooster is by far the friendliest.

So...do you have Miss Matilda Gray in with the kids?  How's that going?  (Her b-day was on the Sunday before Labor Day last year.)

Yup, she's in the 'baby flock'. :) She's the big boss and she doesn't let them forget it! Their interactions are a lot like the big sister vs. little siblings type, where she's too cool to hang out with them but she's glad to boss them around. So she doesn't sit or preen with them or anything, but she does shoo them away when she wants to eat or drink, or when they are on HER perch, or in HER dust bath. I've seen Mabel challenge her twice now, and Till flares up and puts her right back in her place. :D It seems to be going well, but we'll see once the baby flock joins the big-girl flock.

(And thank you, I thought you had said something about her being born near Labor day. And I apparently can't count months correctly, so...  )

PS:  I want some of those "cuddling" types.  How do they get along together?

You mean in the flock? They have only been around the other babies and Tilde, so I'm not sure yet. Dorkings and Bielefelders are supposed to be BIG girls, though, so hopefully they'll do fine just because of their size.

I think I will have about 16 plus my free ranging flock that has the Birchen Marans. I'm thinking I might sell the birchens and just let the legbars free range instead. Here are the pens I plan on having:
Bantam Cochins in lavender barred, buff/lemon barred, and partridge (might add another pen of lavender barred over partridge for a project color)
Silkie/showgirls in white, partridge, and black/blue
Silkie mixed color pen (may break this up and just keep the 3 silkie/showgirl colored pens)
Brahmas in blue/gold partridge and gold/buff laced
Crested cream legbars
Blue laced wyandottes
Modern game bantams in black, blue, splash, Birchen, and brown red (might combine the blue and splash pen)

No worries! I still enjoyed the short visit and loved watching all the birds and cats interact! I could have just sat in your back yard for hours watching them all. I was surprised that even being within Indy, how peaceful it actually was!

Thanks! She's one of my favorite hens (and by the look of her back, one of the Roos favorite as well! Lol
