INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

M2H, don't even think twice about it! :hugs I was tired and hungry and grumpy this morning, and obviously not thinking straight. Baby ducky is keeping me up all hours of the night, rocking around and making me worry, plus keeping the humidity and temp just so for lockdown. (Not that my incubator isn't doing a great job--just that I'm always paranoid that the vent is too open or too closed and that little eggy will dry out or drown by morning--beginning to see more advantages to broody hens! )

Sally, thanks for your thoughts. I'm always grateful for the support and understanding here. :)

I need lunch. :th

From what I'm reading or the way that I'm reading it, it sounds like his threats keep getting worse but no action on his part has been made.  I would pay the fee and tell him if he wants more to take it to court.  As for the rumors, point out that your family is yours.  Use the whole blood is thicker than water and why should my family believe one word of a rumor.    I would get a nice print off of the texts but without his signature be preparred to hear him say you fabricated the texts.    Maybe the phone company can provide you a list of times and numbers of texting to at least back up the date time stamps of the texts.  If the dog was hurt on your property, it stands to reason that the dog owner would still need to produce proof of the injury as well as the cost to medicate the dog.
Best wishes

Thank you so much!!!!!

FINALLY!!!! We're getting tomatoes every day!!! Woo-hoo!!

One of the things I'm going differently for the garden next year is start my tomato seedlings sooner. I'm also going to plant my corn plants farther apart from each other, and run a support rope next to the stalks. For the past 2 years, we've had our corn fall over under heavy winds.

Glad you are finally getting some tomatoes! We only had two big tomatoes plants an have only gotten a few from them, but we have got bags and bags full from our cherries, yellow cherries, and yellow pears.

We still have a lot of green tomatoes. Powdery Mildew annihilated our zucchini. The basil went totally insane; I finally just let it go to seed because I have more in the freezer than I'll use in a year.

Will chickens eat basil? Can I tear some up and put it in the coop for a happy smell?

Powdery Mildew hit my zucchini too, but luckily most of the zucchini had been picked and there were only a few small ones lost. My tomatoes have also been hit with something in the last week, the leaves are turning yellow with spots and falling off. So far the fruit seems to be ok. It has been a rough year for garden fungus! I'm sure chickens will eat Basil.

I'm always glad to know it's not just me. The mildew got us last year too. I've talked to the Purdue extension a few times about it, and again at the state fair last week. They've told me that everyone is having problems with mildew and fungus this year, all over the state.

COLOR FREAK
When I was young, I guess from birth to maybe around 8 years old, I had a form of synesthesia where I always pictured words in different colors. I remember thinking of it as the color relating to the meaning of the word. I was an adult when I happened to be watching a science program on TV and that topic came up. I was shocked! I had thought that it was just something weird about me (to add to the long list). I remember that as a child, when I mentioned it to a friend by saying something like, "Oh that's blue" or "That's a green word," I'd get funny looks or "What?!" I began realizing that it wasn't normal, so I quit saying anything since kids just want to fit in and be normal. I learned to ignore it and hadn't thought about it in years when I saw that TV program. By that time, I had earned a Fine Art degree from IU, had additional training in color theory and design, and had a business with a partner named Color Design Studio. I love color! Shapes, too. Anyway, it was interesting to piece the puzzle together.

Okay, everyone can wake up now!

ICE! Get in a comfortable sitting position. Put an ice pack on your lower back for ten minutes. Repeat once an hour. IMO, whenever I've had a backache, shoulder ache, etc., ice really works. A few months ago, I had shoulder pain from digging in the yard too much. At nighttime, I used a generic Icy Hot stick-on patch (5% menthol), which worked wonders. Actually, I think that it took my mind away from thinking about the pain to thinking about how weird the icy hot patch feels!
Hope you're on the mend soon!!

Synesthesia is so interesting. Thanks for sharing! Also, I second the Icy-Hot stick for a sore back. Had great results with a pulled muscle in my back using the gel roll on stick.

These are so beautiful! What kind of tomatoes are they?
