As always it's been busy on here!!

strssdmom- this was my first winter so I am new to it all too. My coup is not heated or insulated and they have done just fine. And we will be building a bigger one ASAP because chicken math has taken over here too. With 9 full grown and now with 20 chicks to add. And that doesn't count my Bantys. Good luck, there is a lot to learn on here!!!

Crafty- I hope the more experienced members can help figure out what they are? They sure are cute though!!

Ok, here are my baby bantams at 2 weeks... any ideas? First one is a silkie.

1. Silkie
2. Buff Brahma
3. Are those cheek tufts? If so, I am guessing porcelain D'uccle. If not... Cochin?
4. Mille Fleur D'uccle
5. Cochin

.almost done with it. Roller needs a handle that will protrude out the end, so I can pull the eggs to turn them. I put a soup can around my light so it will emit more heat than light into the area. Don't need to tan them in the eggs . Also, this time I sliced a jar lid and slid it between the lamp fixture and cabinet liner so it doesn't melt my wall. Got my fan up next to that. A perfect sized glass door under where the roller will slide. I will be ready to set more in a day or two. This one should hold 24 eggs at most. It is more chick friendly for when they hatch too. Everything is up high and covered with wire mesh or the soup can.
Animallover~ if you need ideas on how to put something in, or how to use space wisely, I can help. Hope I gave you a few ideas.
Your pc fan should have holes for screws in the corners... use a wire clothes hanger through one corner and twist tie the othe top corner to it. Then just bend until it is facing where you want it, and hook the ends up over the edge, so it is hanging out from the wall towards the lamp. That way air will blow across the heat, and it won't be ocluded from the back. Just be careful bending the hanger with the fan connected, not to break the corner off. But if one corner breaks, simply turn it over and use the other two corners for the top. Making sure the fan is still blowing on the lamp.... lesson learned. PM me if you have any questions.

Crafty- wow that looks great!! My Millie's were already grown when I got them so I havent seen chicks yet. I would've if they had lived thru the shipping!! I'm thinking the 2 that survived are buff brahma Bantys. They are starting to look that way. But should have the new shipment in a week or so( replacements). And that'll be 5 Millie's and 3 buffs again.

looks nice. I never thought or seen anyone use a soup can before. Sounds like a great idea tho. Nice egg turner as well. Do you have a thermostat? In one of my incubators i have the fan blowing over lamp and on thermostat that way it will cool thermostat down quicker as well.

That mille I have is very docile, Igot her out to show my DH, and she layed down on the table and only chirped once... like "help". Hoping it's a girl, she will be a doll, along with the porcelain D' uccle. They are both quiet. My silkie loves to cuddle now. I put it up on my neck and it snuggles down.

Cluck~ I don't have a thermostat. The last one I had just right, so I moved a linen placemat over the top to raise or lower temps. I will look into the reptile ones, that way I won't have to constantly adjust. I think they are around $30.

Crafty- maybe I should have you pick out my next chicks! I think you did better than me. My mixed Bantys that turned out to be seabrites are very flighty!! They are cute at least.
