Anyone here have any fertile hatching eggs??
I'm looking for Polish or any "heritage" breeds. Could be bantam or LF, I'm not real picky.
I have a couple broody hens that I'd like to give some eggs to.

Good to hear about the chickens Janet! How did the cochin// wyandotte turn out?
Well Cinder, my little splash cochin is now a little over 2 months I think . I lost track. I got some pics of her her mom Lavender, who got her feathers back finally, her dad who is a molty Blueberry, poor guy, and my blacks today. Who are now called Ronin, my roo, and Ebony and Onyx are the girls..they are 6 months now.

All your chickens are so beautiful!!!. Cinder has really grown.![]()
Lavender looks so much like Jewel. Is she still raising Cinder? Jewel left her chicks a few weeks ago and has gone broody again. This time she is on some duck eggs. I will try to post some pics of my four chicks later today so you can see how much they have changed..![]()
Hello, new here and live in Indiana, so i thpught i would jump in and say hi! I was hoping to find a forum that was more local.![]()
So true.
I had the rooster I lost this summer from the copper in the goat feed. His comb turned a nasty color hours before he passed.
I have had to put down hens for prolapsed vents or other egg related issues. So I agree it sounds similar to the egg getting stuck / laid inside/ or being shell-less. I was offering a 2nd guess, kind of a well my first guess was already posted but here is my next best guess. I should have made that clear.
@SallyinIndiana
and all others with experience.
Let's talk about removing spur casings from roosters.
-Is it totally necessary to remove spur casings?
-Is this something that has been practiced for years or is it something relatively new in terms of small farm flocks?
-At what age do you do it?
-What happens if you don't do it?
-Do you separate them from the flock after removing spur casings? If so, for how long?
-Are you able to do it by yourself or do you need someone to help?
-Do you have any photos you can post?
-Any advice for first-time spur removers?
