INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I agree. I have been randomly attacked by bees all summer. Before this year the only other time I was stung was when I was 3 years old and I was sleeping.. What a surprise wake up call. I am ok with almost all other bugs just not bees.
I just hate bees. Yellow jackets are at the top of my list and it just goes down from there. It is a pain to get stung
Okay, now, some bugs freak me out, but bees and hornets and things do so for a different reason--I don't want to be stung or bitten or anything else! So mealworms give me the heebie-jeebies, but anything that stings or bites or otherwise causes me harm just freaking scares me.
Caught up, AGAIN!!! lol Want ya'll's op on a chick, I think it is a wellie but the color is kinda light in my op. What do you think?
No, this isn't a Welsummer... Not sure what it is from this picture. Here is a Welsummer chick, my little Mabel when she was younger:

As for what your chick is... My best guess from this picture is Easter-egger, but I couldn't tell you for sure.
Good to hear about the chickens Janet! How did the cochin// wyandotte turn out? Well Cinder, my little splash cochin is now a little over 2 months I think . I lost track. I got some pics of her her mom Lavender, who got her feathers back finally, her dad who is a molty Blueberry, poor guy, and my blacks today. Who are now called Ronin, my roo, and Ebony and Onyx are the girls..they are 6 months now.

:love I just love Cochins. I wish I had enough room to add some to my flock.
Good afternoon everyone!
Hey, Cheetah, long time no see! :)

:drool  Those are on the top of my wish list!  I keep telling myself.... wait 'til spring, wait 'til spring.  I even had my hubby put the incubator in the attic to prevent my temptation.

Oh my, she's so pretty.  Are Bielefelders as sweet in person? (I only read about them.)

Well, I don't know about ChickCrazed's birds, but if my girl is any indication, they are very sweet and calm in person. :) My Violet has a grumpy face, but such a gentle and sweet nature. :love

Well, that is a very grumpy face! I also take many pics of my chickens & have a folder just for those interesting expressions.
Here's my grumpy hen pic. (She too is a sweetheart. The pic was just taken at a funny angle.)

I'm a beekeeper, and yes, I hate wasps too. They actually give me the heebie jeebies! But since I am a beekeeper, I just want to put this out there. It's a huge different between honeybees and bumble bees and other things that people call bees but are actually wasps.

I guess I should have been more specific, but I know do know the difference between bees and wasp. I can't stand bees or wasps, period. I know people say honey bees hardly ever sting unless threatened. But I have been stung by several honey bees, none of which did I do anything i was aware of. Many of the times there weren't even nests around. I also have had many bad summers with carotene bees. Both the males and female would chase me while I mowed. I would wear sweat pants and a jacket with the hood up and it tied shut, with gloves and everything. Sounds ridiculous and it probably was but they scared the crap out of me. One of them actually stung me on the forehead (a female, the males can't sting). And I had a large reaction to the sting. They would come over from the grass field near my grandmas house, there was lot of clover over there. Same with yellow jackets, many bad summers. I got attacked by a best of yellow jackets, but only got 7 stings. I had to go to the hospital multiple times for that one. That one was party my fault. I didn't realize the nest was one a chair and sat in it. Too many bad experience with them to like any of them. People that raise bees are like dare devils to me, no way could I do it. I am gla someone can though.
