INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Thank you all for the advice. I think the bird may have been too injured. It passed this morning. My friend also had two others that didn't return home.

I wish people would keep better containment on their dogs. Especially since this is a repeat issue with their neighbor. she said they only say they are sorry but never offer to do anything about it. I would not be so nice if it were my birds and rabbits.
I was In animal control several years, and this is my biggest peeve out there! I would ask your friend to make a report, via police dept. These people are obviously not concerned with the losses their dogs cause and its breaking the law. If it starts costing them money it will make them confine the dogs. My dad and I lost a bottle baby goat several years ago, stray dogs drug the little goat out between the gate post and gate, snapping off its horns and killed it. The poor little goat was raised around dogs and didn't know any better. Dad was out getting his Sunday paper and saw it. He ran towards the dogs, and the larger dog went after him! Dad pelted it with rocks and ran it off.
I called the county sheriff, made the report and we never saw the dogs again. Didn't replace our little goat though, just saddens and angers me people can be so irresponsible.

Hello all. The wife and I are going to get started in chickens. Looking for good info on coops. I want to build this winter to get started early spring with the hens.

Chicken train this Sunday the 30th!!!
Guys, I have a meetup with @racinchickins @SallyinIndiana and some other members of our thread this Sunday afternoon. So if anyone needs a "chicken train" Tooooot toooot! I will be going from Pendleton to Mooresville. I can transport down, or bring back up! Please PM if you have a bird or eggs you are trying to pick up, or deliver. I will have a full sized pickup with a cap so there will be some room available. Birds will need to be boxed or caged for transport. Eggs should be securely packaged for a safe trip. All requests must be arranged by friday evening the 28th.

Racin or Jchny2000, or anyone else that raises Midget White turkeys. Normally how old until I should be able to tell toms from hens? I have 2 that I cant tell on. First thought they were both boys, but now starting to have 2nd thoughts. They're extremely vocal and friendly, no gobbles yet but I thought one tried to a few weeks back. It didnt sound quite right and now I've notkheard them make the noise again. I'll try to get some pictures to help. I think they are right at 4 months old.

can someone please tell me how to change my password? did it once before but for the life of me I cant find the place to do it again????

FREE BCM ROOSTER!!!
I will be getting a BCM rooster this weekend that I was told is mean. He comes with the flock so if I want the hens I have to take him too. The people must get rid of their chickens. He is very pretty, however, this will be the first time my boys & fiancé have been around chickens and I do not want them to start off with a bad experience and be afraid of them. I'm not sure how mean he is, I'm just going off what I was told by the owners. If anyone is interested he is free.
I can't help but think this is the worst ad ever...who wants a horrible mean rooster?? Get your rooster right here!!

I think roosters are given a bad rap... My preggo thought my roo Henry was a mean rooster because he "mated" the hens then she thought he was mean because he chased the other roo around... I thought it was because he was dominant... Now her mother thinks he's mean because he rushes up to her when she has food and tries to get the food out of the scooper.. Mating is natural... Showing dominance is natural trying to eat because he's hungry is natural... But because you have little ones I understand... My niece had a chick.. Not chicken but chick fly behind her and graze her back with her wing and she thought she was being attacked was afread of them for months... I might be interested in him if I get some Marans I'm trying to buy in about two weeks if you still have him by then

I can stop by and take a look at them if you want. I'd think yours are old enough by now to have at least a good idea.

We released monarchs # 96-99 yesterday. I thought a few of you may enjoy these pics. Looks like #100 will hatch Thurs or Fri. After that we have about 10 more caterpillars to finish up before the season is over. Sorry that I can't send any over to Indiana. These ones will migrate to Mexico.
