INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

DSCN3658.JPG
This was Abigail one week after I brought her and her brother home last year. I'm sure she was killed by an owl. Now I have to convince the young muscovies to start sleeping in the barn again.

I have all my Muscovy's trained. At night they see me and I say "bed time" and they all run into their coops for lock up. All but one of my Muscovy's will listen. The one who won't, just follows me around as I lock up everyone. Then when it's her turn, she flies into a hole in a tree to sleep. Every morning I wake up to her outside my window tapping.
They were sleeping out by the pond, which is out in the open. They are so smart, and decided to sleep in the barn last night. I didn't have to coax them at all.

View attachment 1164160 Well, I’m going to get my two roosters processed this weekend. I went to grab some supplies and this happened. An Easter Egger, black copper maran & a barred rock.
Congrats on the new chicks! Just wondering about the BR. Can they be sexed like Dominiques? (The nice compact, round head spots = female & the ones with irreg shaped spots = males.) Or, do you have to wait for the combs & feathers to come in?

I have absolutely no idea! Haha this is my first time with a BR. I was going to find the BR thread and see what they all had to say about them. All I know is that they are good layers!

I have Ameraucana pullets for sale if you're feeling crazy (if anyone is). LOL :lau

:confused:hahaha wish I could take more. These three unplanned chicks put me over the city limit.

I did a quick search, and apparently you can sex BR by the color of their legs (one has darker legs than the other), if there is a spot present on the top of their head. Also males tend to be lighter in color than pullets. When I get home I'll have to see which I have!
