INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Is it ever possible that one of the other mothers would adopt in the rejected kids?
I was hoping but nope! Spicy kidded a single daughter yesterday. We tried to graft babies to Sugar, and Spicy with no luck. We are bottle feeding 4 kids.

The last baby hatched at about 11:30 last night. :love Here's the peeper squad this morning! Numbered in French, of course, because they're Marans. ;)

Precious!
Here are the 1st 5 chicks. Round 2 starts tomorrow!

The two standing in back are from Oopsie. She's a genetically a mauve orp but has a strange recessive white gene (so she looks creamy-yellow white instead of mauve) and her chicks can be a wide variety of colors. The smaller one laying down is a black orp. Father was likely a lav or blk/lav split orp.

What colors do you think Oopsie's chicks will be?
Mauve & Blue?
or
Blue & Black?

These 2 below hatched from eggs from one of my pullets: (silver laced orp, blue silver laced orp, or buff Colombian orp...... Based on egg size, shape, & color, I could only narrow it down to those 3 moms)

This particular chick may have come from my Buff Colombian pullet x my silver laced roo

Last summer's laced chicks (below) had that sort of face mask.

I think you have some blues. I tried to find the pictures of mine but were on another phone.
Here are the 3 new Additions!
1x Pure White Female Muscovy
2x Pekin Cross With Muscovy Females

Didn't know if you are aware, Pekin x Muscovy creates a "mule duck". Muscovy are actually a cousin of the duck, and if they cross with Pekin derived breeds they are infertile.
Anyone know the laws pertaining to selling eggs here? I've looked online but I'm a bit confused if I need a permit. If I quite literally set up a stand in my yard and sell my eggs, so not traveling to a farmer's market or retail, what are the rules? Sorry, I'm very new to this :D

Peeper pictures for today! First, a bad cell pic, but this was too cute to miss. That's one zonked out peeper! :love

I graduated them from just towels to shavings today, which took some getting used to.

After some reassurance, instinct kicked in:

They were so busy scratching through their shavings that they lost track of time and got a bit cold. :love I reminded them of where the EcoGlow is, and they're some happy, busy peepers now! :love :love

Adorable!

We are not keeping any kids this year, I already have 1 doeling and 1 wether (neutered boy) sold. They will stay with the mothers until they reach 8 weeks. If anyone is interested in Oberhasli dairy goats, send me a PM. (We can't sell items on this thread.) 2 girls, 3 boys left. All disbudding, shots included and can be registered with ADGA.

Yes I know that. I was begged to buy them before a red tailed hawk ate them. Thanks though!

Howdy, neighbor! :frow Meyer Hatchery, right? I've gotten a Lavender Orp and Blue Ameraucana from them. You're going to love them! My Meyer Lavender Orp, Rooska, is the sweetest little pushy lap hog you'd ever meet. If that makes any sense. This is her last fall, sitting between my mom and I because she couldn't decide whose lap to sit on first. :love

Editing to add, she was molting at the time, so don't mind her rough appearance. :)
