INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

the laced orps carry themselves with dignity - like watching the queen enter the room.

I like how mine float & glide across the yard. (Their fluff hides their legs, so their big round bodies skim majestically across the grass.) However, when treats are involved, they start running. That's when a comical fast-motion waddle comes out! It's hilarious when they start wing flapping & "honking" in the hopes of increasing speed. We have a long narrow yard, so they do their best to make sure I know they're coming as fast as their plump little bodies will go.

@Leahs Mom Lovely birds! Those Orps do remind me of my li'l Cochins! They look very huggable. :love :love

Well, apparently the last time I posted pictures of my birds was in July. Those kiddos are much bigger now, about 6 months old (well, the Marans are closer to 9, I think), and only one of them is laying! Other than the Silkie hens, who are broody off and on, she's the only one currently supplying me with eggs. Bunch'a slackers! :p I did, indeed, end up with just 2 cockerels out of the 6 Mottled Cochins. One was biting and flogging me, so he went to the freezer along with the three Marans cockerels that got into the habit of attacking all at once as soon as I entered the pen with them. :hmm I kept one Mottled cockerel and both of the silkied Cochin cockerels, though.

Anyway, here's a few pictures of the youngins that I took a couple days ago (except the boys, I forgot to get their pictures with the rest of them  ). My silkied Cochin pullet, Roxanne:

The Mottled girls, Bryony, Ida, Sylvie, and Vira. Vira (the one with the attutide  ) is the only one laying so far.

My sweet, darling Silver Gray Dorking babies, Kita and Myrna :love Y'all know I love my Dorkings!

Here are some older pictures of the boys I kept, taken about a month ago. Russell and Rufus (the silkied boys), and Jasper (the Mottled) :

And the Marans girls as well. Mavis, Josephine, and Vivienne:

I *was* enjoying getting lovely, dark brown eggs from these three, but they've all decided to have a full molt this fall instead of waiting until their second fall like most pullets do.

I also brought home these lovely little darlings from the Central Indiana Poultry Show--Fawn Silver Duckwing OEGBs. :love I had resisted for so long, but I finally just had to have them. The rooster is named Winston and the hen is Sybil. :) I can't wait to hatch some babies from these two in the spring!! :love

thanks for the try, just needing as much info as possible sometimes you might get a MD that only does something one way, regardless if it's the right was, just trying to cover bases....

As far as notifications, once you stop interacting with a thread the notifications stop appearing. I look at watched threads to see if I've missed anything on a tgread I am interested in.
