INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I have had a mallard hen sitting for the last 2 days now. I noticed last night I couldnt find her anywere then i looked behind a board that laying against the barn wall in their run and there she was. I left her alone and just went out to see how she was doing and she was still sitting there so i stuck my hand down by her and she did NOT like that one bit. So i am now wondering how many eggs she has under her. I hope she stays on them with this colder weather here. There is a little opening in the wall behind the board that is outside. These pics are taken from inside the barn. The opening is to small for them to get threw.

Today

Sorry to hear that cluck.
I think I'm about to lose another silkie its been on the edge for almost a week now and just sleeps no symptoms at all i can see. just won't move unless I pick it up to water or feed wet food with a syringe the rest are fine as far as I can tell. I've tried so many things this week and I'm now stumped just waiting to see if this one turns around

Thanks and sorry to hear about your silkie. When you pick it up is it light as a feather? I had a silkie that was like that.

Are these shipped eggs? I've been having horrible luck with them this year. I'm getting fully developed chicks that die inside the shell. They never internally pip. From reading the forums,I'm not the only one with this issue this year. With local eggs I typically have good matches. What is your humidity during incubating and lockdown?
these eggs are from my own hens. i don't put any water in my incubator until day 10 when i candle, then i use paper towels to bring up the humidity for lock down. i never measure. just regulate the temperature and make sure they are the right temp

Lovely flock. I will get some pics of my chicks tomorrow for you. Sorry been little busy.
It's okay. They are doing fine with each other for now. I just hope they continue to get along for awhile. I'm trying to get myself ready to part with some of them. Its difficult. Still trying to figure out a way to keep them all HA!

Is that a carved railing below your girls roost????
No it's just an adjustable shower rod with a rope wrapped around it for traction. They seem to be doing okay with the slick regular rod that they roost on though. Unfortunately the only girls there are the three on the far right and one s/l wyandotte on the left. Everybody else are boys we are pretty sure. :(
