How is everyone this morning? All is well here. We had a lot of rain, but it didn't seem like it was that windy or anything (I probably slept through the worst of it ).


I had some clean up to do this morning, though. Most of the sand has washed away from where I need it in the chicken yard, so I'm gonna have to replace that. The area I have dug out for the coop addition flooded nicely. :/ I had one pen collapse from all the rain that had pooled on it, but the rooster that was in that pen is fine (just a little wet).

My cat made the decision last night that she should be an outside cat. She's been trying to get outside for several weeks now, and I finally relented and let her stay out. I made sure she knew where the "cat door" in the garage was and set out some food. I didn't realize we would be getting a huge storm last night. The cat straggled back in this morning and darted in the door. I don't think I will have to worry about her trying to get out any more!

Can anyone tell the difference between roosters when they crow? I've been hearing a lot more crowing, but I'm not sure if its the same rooster or not...

Okay I don't really know anything about guineas, and I was wondering something. Do male guineas not get along with other males, like roosters?(except for the exeptional ones that happen to get along). I am not planning on getting guineas just curious.

Not sure 100% on it, I have the hen that was raised with my original flock, she is fine with them, The white hen that was not is ok also. My guinea boys, they only target my oldest rooster, Red, but Red wants to fight everyone

including me. (My Gander will pin him in 2 seconds flat if Red even looks at me.) Rebel, my Australorp, walks right by them with no problem. same with Butters, my silkie Roo, and Tank the CX Roo. All the young cockerels I have, no problems either. From what I have heard, it depends on the rooster, and seems to be the case here too.

Glad your Roo is ok, all looks good here too, just way too much water everywhere. what a mudhole. Going out to get 2 rolls of hay so everyone can have dry bedding.

Aww, bet that scared her! My dad used to take a new pet cat, dump her in the snow. it would streak back to the house and never want to go out again...

Momma 2 Silkies: Congratulations on your new guy--he's beautiful! The Lights have such nice silkies; I always come home with more whenever Martha and I are at the same show.

Cluck: I have Appenzellers. They've been a bit slow this year. I have a few chicks and some eggs in the incubator, but by this time last year I'd sold about 50 already. There is also an Appenzeller club now; I don't know whethe the website is up and running yet, but I think that there is a FB page. There is information in the June Poultry Press--I'll look it up.

I thought it was you that had them. I cant find anyone near me that have Appenzellers. If you do have any extra eggs please let me know.

In Evansville, we had storms and it is still raining off and on (it's the weekend), but no problems that I've heard about. The area we live in is called Highland, so we're lucky to not have to worry about flooding.

I took this photo today of Jersey and Tweedy. Jersey is the one who fakes laying in order to remain the Head Hen. ha That's our peephole magnifier in the back behind Jersey. She said she feels like Big Brother is watching.
