INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

3 of my girls decided to stroll up from the coop. Here is a pic of my new hatches from yesterday. Of course, you cannot tell that I changed out their paper towel floor this morning!

adorable little ones.

My chickens won't come out in the snow. Last time I understood since there was so much of it, but today it is just a dusting and still no one is outside.

My girls will only walk in the areas that have no snow. Their run is sand so it melts very fast. I even put some treats in the snow to get them to walk on it. No luck there.

I don't know how mine don't freeze, but they have been out in the yard and snow for half a day. not me! ;-)

So I stopped by the dump,(ours has a re-use pile).and grabbed 8 black plastic trays. The ones they stack bread on. I will have to measure them and send a pic. I need to build 2 nest boxes, but wondering what else I can do with them. Suggestions?

well sadly our chickens are being fostered by a friend for the time being. monday our house went up in flames. we are holding together but it has been rough. hopefully this wont keep us down for long.
I can't imagine going through that; my thoughts and prayers go with you. As others have posted, anything we can do to help....

Sorry lowclass-i cant even imagine what you are going thru. Hello neighbors of indiana BYC. We live in northern indiana outside of howard county.looking forward to seeing local chicken news and whatever else.expecting my first flock in a week and half. RR,Red&black sex links:)

hmmm..off hand, I am not sure--but I know I would have grabbed them, too!

Congrats on the new chicks. Took a quick look at the cam but I totally missed the hatch. I'd love to look at some of that video if you put it on youtube.

Lowclass - what a crazy time you're having. Hope all gets back to normal as soon as possible.

I'm thinking on those trays...and I would have gotten them too!

One thing I thought of...do they have the openings in them or are they solid plastic? ...I can't think of a good word to describe what I mean by openings - hopefully that makes sense?

I was thinking that if they have the openings, and the openings are large enough, you could make a creep feeder for the chicks (the little shelter that surrounds their food and water that they can get into but the adults can't fit in.)

Cluck - what happened with your Tom?

I've been sick and not on much...I may have missed an update on this but I didn't see it.

Did anyone find those ceramic or wood eggs?
