INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hi All,

I have about 40 cans of paint in the basement that I want to get rid of (don't ask where they came from, I'm not sure). So, instead of buying yet another thing for this chicken coop, I decided to see if I could mix enough of them together to come out with something not horrible for the inside. I just mixed together an assortment of greens, light blues, and cream colors and came out with a pretty decent light green. I would have preferred just a plain off-white, but whatever.

So, I'm thinking this is pretty cool and I take a sample of the color down to show my husband (who just got off a horrible conference call).
He said: What am I looking at?
She said: Paint for the inside of the coop
He said: Really? For the inside? Pause....Let me get this straight. You came down here to show me a color sample that goes on the inside of the coop, that only the CHICKENS will EVER see?
She said: Yea, I think its pretty good. Do you think it needs to be lighter?
He said: Please tell me you don't actually want my opinion. PLEASE"

I think he's had enough of the chicken coop. My poor husband.

I'm so lucky he hasn't barbequed them yet. I think I just need to work on my timing.
Happy Friday Everybody!

I think I am hearing things lol. This morning I would of swore I heard eggs rolling around in the incubator(heard it 3 times). So i memorized where the eggs were, because they aare scattered all aroung(not in rows). And now i havent heard any rattling for about 4 hours. But of course I still check incase they silent roll lol.

That's the thing about the nipples -- they don't have to be cleaned. The excess water drips off. No contamination. The nipple is rinsed off each time it is used. The metal is stainless steel.

If you want to clean it occasionally with a toothbrush, I suppose you could, but it is unnecessary. The chickens adjust to the waterers within a day or so.

Unless you are filling the bucket with pond water, cleaning is not needed, ever.

Thank you John, I appreciate the info. Also, I agree with you...the not trying part is hard to take.

my egg turner sounds like tiny peeps today. The eggs are not even close to lock down yet every time I hear the turner squeak I have to glance over there.

I love this conversation!!!! It sooooo something that my DBF would say to me I told him I was decorating the inside of the coop. Thanks for this post, I needed it!

Also, I agree with others who like this "coop raising" idea!!!

After 3 or 4 months, if I remembered that I made it, I would never be able to remember where I left it. By the time I found it, it would be winter and I wouldn't need it anymore. By spring, once again, I wouldn't be able to find it again................

John
Sure, you would need it in the winter--it goes in your morning coffee and you're happy for the day!
