INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Haha. Love your pictures!.

Alright, what can I do to help comfort a chick that is brooding by itself until I can find some chicks? I stole some of the dogs stuffed animals (they were new from the closet, I have a shredder and defluffer so I buy in bulk when they are on sale or clearance lol) and put in with it. He is still chirping away. I'm going into town and buying a mirror and going to try that as well. Any other suggestions? I guess it's a simple solution if I could just find some chicks locally in breeds I'm already working with lol.
I dont know if you have ever heard of the free ad paper, but you could get one of those and look in the poultry and fowl section.I have found multiple things close to me in it.I dont know if you go to bluffton but the gastation across from only internet and the plaza sells them.and I think 2 gas stations in montpiler have them too.

My two hens that just hatched babies stopped getting along so I took all the chicks. I discovered 1 has been seriously injured. It looks to me like a burn but that's not atall possible. My 2nd thought was he squeezed through the chicken wire and it tore him up but do to the location I'm not sure that's even a possibility. What do you guys think I should clean it with? And should I cover it or use something li:Dke triple anibiotic cream? What about another type of meds? And also should I move him some place byhimself? If anyone wants to see photos of what I'm dealing with I can email some. I can't upload to my profile or on here now. Of if someone would be willing to let me email them to you and you post them even f you can't tell me what to do for it that would be awesome.

That makes the most sense, which is something I am not know for. haha
With their beautiful mille fleur feather color pattern and regal bearing, Jubilee Orpingtons are appropriately associated with British royalty. Introduced in 1897 some seven years after the breed was created by William Cook, Jubilee Orpingtons were named in honor of the Diamond Jubilee celebration of Queen Victoria’s reign.
The name is already taken because farmer-lady vickichicki's screen name is the polar opposite of her distinguished real name of Victoria, and she's from England. If I used her name, I might have to pay her a royalty. : - )

Someday my Jubilee will look like this, hopefully.

How old is it? I looked in my Chicken Health for Dummies book and it said to put it in a warm dry place away from the others, with food (maybe some scrambled eggs), and water with some electrolytes and vitamins (like Sav-A-Chick). If you don't have any, I ran across this online:

Chicken Electrolyte Recipe:
1 1/4 tsp sodium chloride (common salt, use unrefined sea salt if possible)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon potassium chloride (salt substitutes contain mostly potassium chloride)
2 Tbs honey or molasses
Mix solution thoroughly with 1/2 gallon of water. Solution must be discarded after 24 hours.

itsjustme~ I sent you a PM

Also, for your injured chick: You can wash the wound out carefully with sterile saline solution, and apply an antibiotic ointment. (Do not use anything on your chicken that contains the suffix -caine, like benzocaine, for example--They are extremely Toxic). Make sure your Triple Antibiotic Ointment does NOT include Pain Reliever.

You might put another chick in with the injured one if it comforts and not stresses the injured one. Make sure the injured chick is warm and cozy.

I just read this to my husband. He is totally with yours on this. He started laughing and asked if you were a relative he had not been introduced to yet.
That's funny. I'm originally from California, so its more likely that your husband is related to mine, lol.

Pipd~ Your chicks look great in their jungle.
CCCCCCCCHICKENS~ Good luck with your little chicks!

I actually never thought of the name Victoria. I naturally do not see it as a regal name. Infact my distaine for the name is great. Although I now use it more than I ever have as people have an inability to understand me saying Vicki. If the name fits you can pay me royalties in the form of eggs :D
