I already have her seperated, well she is with some chicks but they dont go near her. She dosent really try to move around, sometimes she will push her self a little if she wants to move to a new spot but she does that at the most 5 times a day. other than that she just sits there. I am giving her poly-vi-sol, and what she normally eats. I will try yogurt too. Right now I am giving her some melon and squash too, because I feel bad for her, she is getting spoiled. She hasent walked for 3 days. On tuesday is when she started limping and she had gotten worse from then to how she is now. She isnt paralysed though, she can still move her legs.I'm not sure if this will help, but when my chick was doing that, I put it in a cat carrier so that it didn't try to move around much, gave it the probiotic/vitamin water, regular feed, and yogurt. After about 4 days it was much better. I still don't know what the problem was.
I love your little coop! It give me ideas for something to contain our little bantam roos away from the girls. Good job!!
I'm no expert, but I don't think any chickens would die from that food. We've recently changed what they eat, from young chicken food to a layer type. Ours free range a lot during the day, so they get a huge variety anyway.Quick question, now that I have the teenagers and the adult chickens together, their food is also available to all. If there is chick food and layer food out there, will anyone croak if they get too much of the wrong kind? In a few weeks they should be eating the same thing so I'm trying not to be concerned, but should I?
Love that wine bottle idea. You sure you didn't empty it lol? Gotta love those fresh eggs, eh? Hard to describe, except they are so FRESH and TASTY.
found this bottle at Wal-Mart (yes it is empty- and no i am Not Endorsing anything!) and thinking of turning it into a table lamp for somewhere in my house! I will have to go back and check to see if there are any other variations of chickens. I will post a picture of the completed project!!!
it seems that we are averaging about one egg per day right now. I think that's great considering the girls just started laying!!
Too Fast-- I love your roo pictures!! I esp. love the one of him in mid crow!! that's an awesome pic!
well... let's just say that when i found it(equals bought it) it wasn't empty. Just how it actually got empty is the mystery! Ur roo probably does this because he knows it's ur window! he's probably really saying " i dare u to put me in freezer camp!" lollolLove that wine bottle idea. You sure you didn't empty it lol? Thanks for the compliment about the pictures, he seems to like to crow right outside my window on the kids playset. He's just saying hi, I think!
All three of these birds are Easter-eggers. Muffin is close to a white Amaraucana, but he has green legs and so he is an Easter-egger after all. Almost inevitably, if you buy 'Ameraucanas' from the feed store, they will turn out to be EEs.Peanut Butter (on the far left) and Muffin (on the right) need new homes if you know anyone who needs a rooster. Otherwise, they may be going to freezer camp. When I purchased them from TSC, they told me that they were Ameraucanas. I have since found out that at least Peanut Butter is an Easter Egger and I think he's going to be gorgeous.
It depends on how young your teenagers are. Birds younger than 15-16 weeks should not be getting the extra calcium that is in layer feed unless they are laying. Do you give oyster shell free choice? If so, you could just give your entire flock chick food and they will be fine.Quick question, now that I have the teenagers and the adult chickens together, their food is also available to all.
