INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

And apparently my spell ck is on overload! I am a friend of pbridheaven. We live about 4 miles apart. I was going to order some chick this morning. First time! And would love input on hatcheries. I wanted to use Meyers since its fairly close but McMurry has more of what I want. Ideas?

Welcome!!! I have never ordered from hatcheries before but Of what i have heard and seen. Meyers is pretty good. I posted a youtube video of Meyers a few days ago if you would want to flip back a few pages and find it. They tell you all about their hatchery.

what a rainy day.... it would be perfect if it would just stop for a while. We've got yet again a flood watch for the next couple days. I will have to wait til afternoon to finish the nest boxes on the inside. they just need a roost bar to fly up to, a divider board, and a board to keep the bedding in. what do you guys recommend for in the boxes? i only have 2 for my 5 hens. a couple of them have been eying the box... coincidentally it's the red faced girls. how long with the red face before they lay? i think it's been a week.

how old are they again? I am not enjoying this rain either. I introduced the new rooster again. First i kept him in a pen for half the morning outside till it started to rain. I then let him out. I did have to break up a few fights but with talks with both of them i might have settled it for now. They went opposite directions then. Hope they got this settled for now. I have to go to work soon and wont be able to keep a eye on them.

here's my boy back in the fall, he is so serious about keeping the chicks away from the curious cats.

Here is a pic of one of our little gal. Not sure what all she is. We think part Silkie We think that by some of here looks and the way some of the feather feel. Whats your thoughts?

Finally figured out what she is!!! She is a blue cochin mix. Found a pic on google that looked just like her so had to go to the source on where the pic was and they are just alike. Here is the pic i found. Now dont they look just alike except the head which i still think she is mixed with a silkie.
