I think the trick is what you are saying. keep it free of drafts. The area I do all my critter stuff is somewhat drafty, its just a mudroom/breezeway that joins both houses. heated and insulated, no drywall in there. So the still air wouldn't work right for me. Once the bators arrive, hope we can start planning hatchalongs!

Going to hit price comparing hard this week, I will find our best deal on T posts. so far Lowes is ahead on the "cattle" fencing prices. Menards is cheaper but always out of stock.

are you getting the fence for chickens or other livestock? If for the chickens wont they just fly over it? They are only like 4ft tall am i right.

I've been watching the posts everyone else leaves.... I may be the only one that does during the day. Its ok, I usually stay up til atleast 11. Now if it was when I worked 3rd shift... that would be a different story. I stay at home and watch kids now.... I get a lot more sleep this way, and I get to check in the coop pretty often. I will have to come up with a good treat to give them today b/c of the rain. How did everyones coops fair with that wind? We had sirens and took the kids to the basement at about 3 am.

Morning all. We had some-kinda wind last night! Wow! We lived in Greensburg and had tornado damage a few years ago and now storms really bother me! At least it's still kinda warm. I'm looking for fence posts and fence too so keep us updated. Also I don't know if anybody has ever seen a website called Bestnest? They have great stuff, I have ordered quite a few things from them, mostly pond pumps. But they have incubators and turners and chicken stuff. The prices look good to me but I'm not into that YET!!:) they also have bird houses and all kinds of stuff. If you sign up for their site they have weekly sales. And they are in cinci, I usually have their stuf in 1-2 days. So ck them out.

I slept through it all !! LOL !! We lived in Alaska when they had the big flood and the big earthquake. Here in Indiana we had a tornado knock our chimney down, and it went through the roof of the house, Not much bothers me, I can sleep through anything !! (well just about LOL !!)

Thanks for the web site, I'll look them up.

I'm currently using a little giant. I like it. I have mine in an extra bathroom that doesn't have windows. Holds temps very well. No random temp jumps or decline. Just remember you need to barely move the dial to adjust the temps. Very touchy. I'm looking at getting more expensive eggs to hatch, so I am getting a homemade cabinet style. But I will be keeping my LG as well. For a fan, I was going to buy the one specifically for the incubator, but decided to take a computer fan out of an old computer I had. Found an old phone charger and works beautifully. This is my first time incubating and had 14 shipped quail eggs. After candling on day 9, 3 were infertile. Lockdown starts tomorrow or Friday, so we will see what hatches out soon!

Also, lowes does price match. They will match and beat it by 10%. Now if the store wants to get technical, the items are supposed to be the exact same and the store with cheaper price is supposed to have it in stock and not sold out. But it is always worth a try!

6' t-posts are 4.19 each @ tractor supply, didn't check lowes/home depot etc. Get together a list of your total materials, talk to the customer service dept. About the entire order, what discount they'lll give ya, and tell the prices from other places.

Wow LA Mom... I guess I'm a light sleeper. Anyone know where I can get cheap exterior paint for the coop? Really wanted it all one color. I check craigslist, but no luck, or too expensive for my taste.

I think I will get with bradselig since he works for lowes and then i will find somewhere else that sells it cheaper then have lowes beat the price by 10% and then use brads employee discount on top of it.

Sounds like a good plan to me!! Am I right brad?
